Coastal design doesn’t have to announce itself.

At Ettalong, the water views were already doing the heavy lifting, so instead of leaning into obvious coastal cues, we let the landscape outside shape the material palette within.

Warm timber, natural stone, brushed nickel, soft curves and a restrained neutral base all work together without competing with the view.

The result feels coastal because of its location, how the light moves through it, and how the materials respond to that setting. Not because it follows a theme.

And because this was a development, that restraint mattered commercially too. A material-led interior has longevity, broader appeal and is far less likely to date. Timeless, not trendy.

Work of late.
A little snapshot of what’s been happening around here lately.

I genuinely love what I do, and it’s pretty exciting to see our team continuing to grow alongside the work we’re taking on.

A bridal store doesn’t have to be ivory.

For Aura Bridal, the brief was to move away from the expected and create something with depth, warmth and a little drama.

The deep rust curtain dressing room became the standout piece for a reason. Unexpected in a bridal space, but designed to let the gowns feel even more special against it.

Sometimes the best way to design for a category is to challenge what it’s supposed to look like.

Between supplier visits, event planning, interstate podcast recordings, client meetings and site visits, life as an interior designer can feel pretty full, but so incredibly fulfilling.

We’ve recently signed off on a few beautiful new projects across Sydney and the Central Coast, and we can’t wait to share more as they evolve.

From brief to completion 🤍

We love working with clients who have a clear vision for their space and trusting us to bring that vision to life.

In this instance, it was a boutique bridal store in beautiful Terrigal on the Central Coast.

Our client came to us with a clear idea of what she wanted Aura Bridal to feel like. We took over a dusty old restaurant space, stripped back to concrete slab floors and white walls, and worked within a considered budget to completely transform it.

From the first floor plan and finish selections, through to the final styling and installation, every detail was considered.

And this is what we created.

A warm, refined and feminine retail space designed to make every bride who walks through the door feel something special.

On site today, deciding between 7 different whites. 🤍

Because white is never just white. The light, orientation, surrounding materials and time of day can completely change how a colour reads.

And this is only one tiny part of what happens during a site visit.

We’re checking measurements, dimensions, lighting, power points, window and door details, joinery set-outs, material samples, paint colours, construction progress and making sure what we’ve designed on paper is actually translating into the space.

There’s a lot to tick off before we leave site.

From plans to progress, finishes to reality.

There’s something pretty special about seeing a project move from carefully considered selections on paper to those same materials being brought to life on site.

Picketts Valley is a great example of how the finished result is never down to one person. It’s the collaboration between interior designer, builder and trades, working together to bring the design to life while balancing the brief, budget, functionality and all the details in between.

From the first finish selection to seeing it installed, every decision has a role to play.

And slowly, the vision starts becoming a space.
