Hi everyone,
I am going to be a little preoccupied for the next four weeks. Mrs Weeds Gal and I have just driven to the west coast in order to participate in the Winter 2025 Sh*tbox Rally from Perth to Darwin via the inland and Gibb River Road then two weeks driving home from Darwin.

What the actual f……
I just learned that Mr Weekends himself, Simon Marnie, has not had his contract renewed by the ABC.
He, along with Sarah McDonald have have been given the news that they are no longer wanted, maybe by management but not by listeners.
I have truly lost count of the number of people who have told me that they love him on Weekends and that it just doesn’t feel like a weekend when he’s not on.
When I have given public talks, invariably the first question asked when I’m finished is “is Simon Marnie as nice as he sounds?”, and of course the answer is an emphatic “YES!” I now precede my asking for questions with that question and answer to save time as it is always the first question.
I think we should all let the ABC know our feelings about this, I certainly will be.

Good morning everyone,
It is a cold, rainy and blustery day in Melbourne at the moment.
Mrs Weeds Guy and I are down here as this Saturday we will be setting off on our adventure in the Sh*tbox Rally, that’s right, we reached (and exceeded) our fundraising goal. We aimed for $5000 but have surpassed $7000. We are still accepting donations as every single cent is going to the Cancer Council.
We have a dedicated page for people to follow us on our adventure, all will be on there, the good, hopefully not too much bad and definitely the ugly. Feel free to have a look and like to see what we’re up to. I’m sure there are going to be a few surprises too.

Mrs Weeds Gal and I are raising money for the Cancer Council by participating in the Sh*tbox Rally.
We will be driving this delightful piece of automotive excellence from Melbourne to Alice Springs via places like Tibooburra, Bedourie and Tobermorey (look up these places if you haven’t heard of them) mainly on dirt roads. If you have a few spare dollars (over two dollars is tax deductible) it would be greatly appreciated.

My responses to messages and emails will be delayed a little as Mrs Weeds Gal and I have some driving to do around Sydney for various purposes.

Announcing Team Carcolepsy!!!

As many of you may be aware, my friend Chris and I did the Sh*tbox Rally back in May this year, I mean, who could forget (or wishes they could forget) seeing us in our sparkly outfits and the gold Ford Fairmont. Many of our friends donated to our team We Can aFordit to raise money for the Cancer Council to fight cancer.

My wife, Sarah, and I have had too many family and friends have to battle cancer, and we have seen too many lose that battle.

So next June, Sarah and I will be taking on the challenge again by driving a clapped out 2000 AU Ford Falcon wagon from Melbourne to Alice Springs on as many dirt roads (I use the word roads very loosely) as the organisers can find.

So where does the word Carcolepsy come from?
The name comes from Sarah’s habit of succumbing to the metallic Va**um very rapidly and sleeping through some seriously good scenery.
Well not this trip!
When she isn’t driving, she’ll be navigating and wrangling the two-way radio.

We will be doing this all while wearing pyjamas all day in a sleep themed car. Yes, there will be pictures. I will do the recap videos at the end of each day showing where we’ve driven and photos along the way.
