Freshwater Project: A steeply sloping site with limited access became an opportunity to do something clever.

Designed by ecodesign, with the concrete pool delivered by AEON Pools, this project brings together a swimming pool, outdoor kitchen with cantilevered pergola, outdoor shower and sauna, all nestled within lush tropical planting.

By designing the concrete pool partially out of the ground, the team worked with the natural slope rather than against it. The result opens up views across the surrounding borrowed landscape and makes every part of the garden feel connected.

A thoughtful collaboration between landscape design, engineering and construction, created to make the most of a challenging site.

MARRICKVILLE PROJECT

Every project begins with understanding how our clients want to live.

For this generous Inner West property, the landscape design accompanies a complete internal renovation, creating a seamless connection between home and garden.

Designed for a young professional family with a love of architecture, entertaining and outdoor living, we collaborated closely with Matt Woods Architect, refining and building upon the original approved concept to create the landscape now taking shape.

A restrained material palette brings the design together, with monolithic concrete framing the pool and outdoor spaces, complemented by a sleek Trimdeck carport. The result is a contemporary landscape that feels grounded, refined and built to last.

Working within the constraints of a narrow rear lane, every square metre has been carefully considered. By balancing the pool, lawn and circulation spaces with minimalist native planting, we’ve created a landscape that is both highly functional and effortlessly beautiful.

We look forward to sharing more as this Inner West transformation continues to come to life.

A thoughtfully designed estate entry creates more than just a beautiful first impression. It sets the tone for the entire community that follows.

This conceptual streetscape entry for a proposed new estate in Oakhampton was designed to create a strong sense of arrival through layered planting, structured avenues, natural textures and carefully considered landscape detailing.

Working alongside the vision of the NEX Group, the design focuses on creating an arrival experience that feels welcoming, established and connected to its surroundings from day one.

Using Pitchbox 3D visualisation technology, ecodesign was able to bring the concept to life in the early design stages, helping communicate the future character, scale and landscape intent of the estate long before construction begins.

Walker Corporation – South Gillieston Sales Suite

The South Gillieston Sales Suite is the display and information centre for Walker Corporation’s masterplanned community in Gillieston Heights, in the Hunter region of NSW.

It has been designed to showcase the lifestyle vision for the community rather than simply act as an office.

The building reflects the architectural style of the future homes, with a classic white weatherboard exterior, pitched rooflines and generous verandahs. Inside, buyers can explore floorplans, finishes and the broader masterplan, and speak with the sales team about land releases and house and land packages.

The surrounding landscape and pool area help bring the vision to life. Structured gardens, layered planting and outdoor entertaining spaces demonstrate how homes within the estate can feel complete and established from the outset. It is designed to give potential buyers a tangible sense of what living in South Gillieston could look like, from street presence through to the backyard with pool and entertaining area.

From a design perspective, good lighting is subtle, layered and intentional. It guides the eye, creates balance and allows the landscape to come alive after dark.

At ecodesign we often help our clients find ways to make to make the most of their living space and accommodate their growing family.⁣

For this project, our clients required more space, so we created a design to maximise their steeply sloping bush block landscape. ⁣
⁣
Our design realigned their driveway and terraced front yard in order make extra room for children play on level lawns. This gave the kids multiple playing areas instead of a steep block and they were able to safely put a trampoline and swing set on this play area. ⁣
