Mulberry Leaves 🍃

I wasn’t surprised when I found out that mulberry tree leaves have great benefit or that they’re used to make tea. But I was very surprised when I found out that people make rolled stuffed mulberry leaves similar to the stuffed vine leaves concept!

And so, I put my mind to it and I want to try it! For the first time ofcourse. That’s why I’ll need your help 🙈 what’s the best way to go about this - please leave your comment below to give me some advice!

Should I boil them first? Or leave them raw? Do I stuff them in the same mix as vine leaf stuffing? Should I cook them with plain water? Add veggies? Help!

I’ll be going through all the comments tonight with a cuppa so any insight would be helpful!

Passion 🌿

If you asked me what my biggest pride and joy is in my garden, I’d have to say it is my passionfruit vine - not because it’s physically the largest thing in my garden (although it’s quite obviously the main focus currently) but because it was my first time tackling passionfruit on my own, it’s one of my biggest accomplishments and because I had lingering doubts about it from the very beginning.

When I first planted it, it barely grew. And if I’m honest I checked up on it every single day! Barely any growth at first, you’d think nothing was happening. But then the first summer came since planting it 2 years ago and bang! Now I can’t control it.

Point of the story, it starts of slow but when a passionfruit picks up you’ll have a fiesta in your garden. My biggest advice (from my short experience with it) is to keep the base well watered, use seasol regularly and when the last fruit has been harvested to prune it back heeps! This seems to be what the passionfruit loves!!

If you want something that will give you adventure in the garden, trust me get a passionfruit!

Recycle 🌿

It’s no secret that I love my .au coffee - and I appreciate that I can give my capsules a second-life through Nespresso's recycling program.

When I found out more about the recycling program, I was jumping for joy - the aluminium capsules are fully recyclable and go on to serve a second use. That way I can rest assured that not only can I enjoy my coffee, but I’m being environmentally conscious too.

I’ve been using the pre-paid Aus Post satchel to return my capsules to Nespresso, and I often collect the coffee from inside my used capsules to use in my garden too. It’s a win win situation!

If you’re looking to recycle your Nespresso capsules too, there are three other options; including returning them to your local boutique, dropping them off at a participating florist partner and participating in a bulk recycling collection initiative with your workplace or community.

Let’s do our part for the environment 🌿 (and enjoy quality coffee 😉)

Loofah Soap Bar 🌿

When I harvested the loofah recently, I knew that I wanted to make good use of it! It was such a hard decision to cut it up into pieces, I did it slowly and carefully - but then I just decided to get into crafty mode and make something of it.

The most important disclaimer is that I am in no way a pro soap maker, j know nothing about soap making and this was actually very difficult. I did so much research beforehand and decided the best way was to mould soap I had - and so I did!

I used bits and pieces of soap that we got from lebanon (called organic soap - hand crafted and traditional) - it was a risky situation in case it went wrong but I have to say I’m happy with the result.

I simply melted the soap with 1/2 cup of water (shredding the soap first) and once melted i poured into the mould (cupcake liners in a cupcake tray. The first day after drying, I was deflated. They didn’t dry out as well as I thought. They were still quite moist. Then I read about it and realised that the type of soap I melted needed to air dry for longer than 2 days ...

I left them for a little longer and guess what they transformed!! I have no idea if I did this right but let’s just say, the consistency is soap, the texture is soapy and it lathers like soap!

This was actually so much fun to make and I’m so glad I gave it a try ... now I’ll just leave it to the soap experts (and I appreciate their talent now more than ever)

If there is anything I learnt about DIY it’s that you have to start somewhere 🌸

Vegetarian Bazela (lebanese pea stew)

I was blown away to find a vegetarian mince that actually resembles, tastes and substitutes meat! It’s no secret that I love my veggies, and my favourite veggie filled meal to make is this pea stew. While the traditional way requires meat in many varieties, I’m pleasantly surprised at how unique the mince added a new dimension of flavour!

I was so impressed that I’m already planning my next meal to use this in - a pasta, burrito or even a lasagna! (Brb got to go cook!!!)

If you love your veggies like me, you’ll love these 🌿

Propagation 🌿

It all started when I was watering my peace lily yesterday, and I accidentally cracked a leaf off. No way I was going to let it go to waste so I put it in a cup with water and hoped it will develop roots overtime.

The issue was, the leaf kept sliding into the cup and that was the thinnest/smallest cup I had ... so it was an issue! I jumped online and looked up Propagation Stations - and wow ... the price tag!

The craft woman in me quickly entered project mode. We have heeps of timber scraps that we keep for projects and my mind was racing!

A quick trip to and I found exactly what I needed.

It was as simple as drilling holes the size of the glass (which my husband helped with obviously 😄) and that’s it! Can’t get more customised than that.

What do you guys think?!

Loofah 🌿

I’m stoked! This is the loofah that I thought rot over the fence. This was a joint gardening effort with my neighbour who is my farmer (and my point of contact whenever I have a question). He grows loofahs yearly and this year he asked me if I want to join in (ofcourse I said yes), so he threw half the vine to my side. It grew beautifully and I was so excited! But after a few weeks the loofahs started to wilt and mould up. One of them stayed on the vine and it turned brown and slightly mouldy. So I gave up.

But little did I know that it was dry and ready on the inside.

Today was a surprise when I came to dispose it and realised it was dry and cracked, ready to peel!! I’ve saved the stories to my highlights, it was an epic moment to say the least!

Now I need to make use of it in the best way possible. Who here loves using a loofah too??

Goodbye Citrus Season 🌿

If you asked me which season is my favourite, I would say that I sincerely don’t have a favourite. I love the surprise that every single season brings in the garden. For now, it’s time to say goodbye to the citrus season. The season where green trees are filled with specs of yellow, orange, lime and other beautiful colours.

So, this cake is dedicated to the citrus season in the garden. It was fun, but I look forward to seeing what next harvest will bring!

Special thanks to for the idea! As soon as she told me that the little kumquat slices were cute as garnishes, a lightbulb moment hit! Love the way this turned out.

To all the citrus lovers, citrus growers and cake lovers 🌻

Kumquat Jam

If you’ve tasted Kumquat, you’ll know that it ha as distinct sour flavour and is super fun to eat. It bursts in your mouth and the sourness is just delicious! However, after a big harvest this year, I had to think of a way to make use of it...

That’s where you all came in - thank you to everyone who sent through suggestions. So many ideas like to make pickles, candies oranges, preserve and most popular marmalade/jam.

If I’m honest, I was really nervous making this. Mostly because it was my first time and if it didn’t work out, I would have wasted an entire harvest! Imagine that.

But I have good news, it turned out exactly like a jam! It’s sweet and tangy at the same time and I tasted it with a rice cracker and cream cheese.

I will say something though, a little goes a long way - so the amount I’ve got in the picture is a bit too much I’d half that amount next time, spread it lightly on top of butter or cream cheese, a drizzle of honey and sesame! Perfect!!

If you’ve tried this before, I’d love to know your combination ideas! 🌿 Nora 👩‍🌾 @ Sydney, Australia

When life gives you lemons 🍋

This is the final lemon harvest from my garden (with the exception of a couple unripened lemons left on the tree) - I have to say it has been one of the most giving plants in my backyard.

If you’re looking to grow something that will reward you in the long run, get a lemon tree! Mine is a eureka lemon and although it needs some maintenance (pruning, feeding and protection from pests) it still rewards you with abundant produce.

Now, to use these lemons up in the best way possible - I’m thinking lemon tart?

Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Oat Muffins 🌿 You know those mornings where you are in need of a nice filling breakfast? Well this is the perfect option for you. You can now make a delicious batch of fruity, oaty, honey muffins!

I decided to using Traditional Rolled Oats and they turned out amazingly. It literally tastes like a fruity porridge in a muffin format.

I topped mine with a little drizzle of sugar free maple syrup and it was 👌🏻. . . You can find the recipe in my highlights. Give it a go - try it for yourself, pimp your oats and share with me what you’ve made! . . Enjoy.🌻 Nora👩‍🌾
