Bongalong St Community Garden We are a group of local resident community gardeners welcoming any interested people to join us in the garden on Sunday mornings.

Visitors to the are always welcome. We are also interested in connecting the local community with events and activities related to gardening and sustainable lifestyles.

Christmas is a time for giving. That doesn't however mean you should be taking plants from a community garden. In the last 8 weeks we've had someone continuously taking plants from the garden. They've taken, Thyme, many strawberry plant, 10 x Basil plants, Curry Leaf and much more. Everyone is welcome to take from the garden, but whole plants, (multiple), is plain stealing. If you see someone doing this, kindly ask them to desist!

Winter is around the corner and it’s that time of month again with the ‘Food Swap’ coming up next week on Friday 2 June from 9.30am – 11.00 am at The Blend Café, Dougherty Centre, 7 Victor Street, Chatswood. Come along to swap your excess produce of veges, herbs or fruit, exchange tips and meet like-minded members of the community.
This week there will be a demonstration on how to make Green Papaya Pickle (at 10am).

There is a survey consultation which runs from 1st May to Friday 16th June 2017.

Council also invites you to attend an on-site Open Day on Sunday 21 May between 10am and 12pm and speak with staff about your ideas.

Willoughby City Council have a great range of stalls, talks and activities for you to engaged in around the subject of wildlife and, as a not for profit event, we have community organisations like Sydney Wildlife Rescue, Willoughby Friends of Ossu, the Repair Cafe and Community gardens for you to support or get involved in as well as Fair Trade stall holders. There is also an opportunity to buy or build your own bug house for native bees.

The event starts off at 9.30am with a talk by Megan Halcroft on Native Bees – diversity in the backyard and a Australian Wildlife Show with Lee Webley.
