A tongue-in-cheek name for a house we completed in Scone with upmarket heritage (โ€ฆ.tea and scones with jam and creamโ€ฆis a Devonshire teaโ€ฆ) ~ as the first Mayorโ€™s house back in the late 1800s ~ furnished with details worth preserving and desperately needed new additions.

Completed on a shoe-string budget ~ which meant a lot of heavy-lifting, kind friends lending a hand, and many hours driving back and forth to Sydney.

Itโ€™s all in the details. Especially when youโ€™re trying to achieve peaceful minimalismโ€ฆhappy to say we got there despite it being built at the end of a stressful pregnancy ~ this is now the only room in our own home thatโ€™s officially finished, and is a happy little haven for everyone. Designed as the ultimate family escape, this Southern Highlands sanctuary now features a pool, spa, and lakeside pavilion ~ featuring an upstairs office with a calm, scenic outlook.

The main house was remodelled for extended family living ~ with a new entry, kitchen extensions and colonnade connecting outdoor spaces, extra bedrooms and bathrooms, a steam room, gym, and spacious garage.

To address overland flooding, the landscaping includes a dry riverbed that activates during rain, using boulders and grasses to safely redirect water away from the house.
