As part of our sustainability strategy in 2021, Mayoh Architects made the commitment to be a Carbon Neutral practice by reducing operational emissions, switching to green service providers and investing in carbon offsets. Climate change effects not only our physical surrounding environment but also our people, projects and clients so by inciting real and positive change, we can look toward building a sustainable future.

In our industry, we have a social and ethical responsibility to prioritise and support climate action. Over the coming weeks, we will be posting further detail on where our emissions came from and how we are offsetting them through programs such as Redd+, Cleaner Cookstove Bugesera and the Myrtah Energy Wind Power Project.

Earlier this year, Holly de Jong was promoted as an Associate Architect. Holly joined Mayoh Architects in 2016 and has over 14 years of experience across a broad range of projects in the education sector. She is driven by the continually changing nature of education and the associated learning environment and how this is reflected in architectural design. Whether it means generating new buildings, the adaptive re-use of older buildings, minor alterations and additions or full campus master planning.

Holly believes education can take place ‘anywhere’ however, by providing appropriate, purpose-built learning spaces that are dynamic and can cater to all personality types, students will be inspired to learn, be supported to question + take risks and be encouraged to take part in learning activities.

She has exceptional management skills, an ability to listen and extract information from our clients and has a keen eye for detail. Holly is an admirable and highly valued member of our team.

The Role:
As Mayoh Architects’ Team Coordinator, you will be responsible for day-to-day reception and administrative tasks, management support, marketing tasks as well as systems & processes whilst reporting directly to the Practice Director. This role is also able to accommodate an entry level Interior Design Graduate with a minimum of 2 years industry relevant experience however the key responsibilities of this role are the administrative responsibilities.

The ideal candidate will have:
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role and industry
- Verbal and written articulacy
- Strong time management skills
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously and as part of multiple teams
- Experience in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Experience in InDesign or similar graphic desktop publishing software
- Experience with Photoshop (preferred but not essential)
- Interior Design Qualification/ Experience (preferred but not essential)

After Covid related site delays, we're thrilled to reach this significant milestone on the Integrated Studies Centre at Macarthur Anglican School. These curved glass panels were installed last week, encasing the Junior Maker Space and Senior Science Laboratory. With landscaping works underway, we are eagerly anticipating the completion of construction in the coming months.

Throughout February and March, the Mayoh Team focused on the Local and Sustainable Food Living Principle. We focused on minimising meat consumption in our diets and incorporating organic, locally sourced produce into meals. Below is a selection of photos highlighting the teams achievements.

In 2018, Mayoh Architects were engaged to prepare a campus-wide Master Plan for Our Lady of Mercy College, Parramatta. The Master Plan proposes a combination of new build and adaptive reuse projects, to achieve the best possible use of the campus for the future. The vision for the Master Plan is to create “A Vibrant, Dynamic and Connected Oasis of Learning”.

We have recently received Development Application approval for Stage 1 of the Master Plan, which involves refurbishments and a new four storey extension to the existing heritage-significant Brigid Shelly Building, to provide new and upgraded General Purpose Learning Areas, breakout and collaboration areas, as well as a tiered Presentation Space on the Ground Floor. The addition will be arranged around a central atrium and courtyard filled with landscaping, allowing natural light and air to circulate throughout the building. The new teaching and learning environments will be light-filled, flexible, technology-enabled, naturally ventilated, have strong visual links to the landscape beyond and above all will be inspiring places for both teachers and students to be in.

We look forward to working on the next stages of this exciting project to bring Stage 1 of the Master Plan to life.

We are seeking a part time Accountant/ Book Keeper to work 10 hours a week, preferably on a Tuesday and Friday, between 9.30am and 3.00pm (hours are flexible).

This role is a contractor role and will require relevant BAS/Tax Agent Registration from the Tax Practitioners Board.

The ideal applicant will have:
- BAS/Tax Agent Registration from the Tax Practitioners Board
- A relevant qualification (CA or CPA preferred)
- 5-10 years of experience in a similar organisation
- Experience in MYOB (essential)
- Self-motivation

The ground floor slab of the new Integrated Studies Centre has been poured at Macarthur Anglican School, with builder Reitsma Constructions Pty Ltd successfully overcoming the challenges inherent in any circular building, in the complex setout of faceted formwork.

We look forward to seeing the concrete columns and first floor slab completed in the coming weeks!
