We all need a little help when times are hard, especially for the fur babies and their rescuers. Please help if you can.

Thanks to an amazing supporter who has cleared our entire vet bill and some. Plus every other person who donated we have raised over $13,000 to go directly towards our vet bills.

To say we are overwhelmed with the generosity of our supporters is an understatement.

‼️ OUR DOORS ARE CLOSED ‼️

Our vet bill is currently sitting at over $6000 and we just don't have the funds to cover it, or any upcoming vet work. Unfortunately despite our best efforts to fundraise recently, we have seen our bank account diminish into almost nothing, to the point we've been struggling for a few weeks now to try and get our vet bill down to a manageable amount.

From emergency vet visits, enough ringworm to last a life time and animals arriving unwell and needing premium food and medication, we've had a rough couple of months. Combine that with non existent adoptions our bank account is at an all time low and our debt is growing. We are begging for your help.

On top of that, we need to take latest litter of puppies in for initial vaccinations and microchips so that they can be adopted. For 6 babies that will very quickly add up to $1000 and that doesn't include extra vaccinations or desex which we cover.

With over 40 animals in care, we have no choice but to completely close our doors until we can clear some room and reduce our debt.

Here are some interesting facts about the dandelion flower:

The dandelion is the only flower that represents the 3 celestial bodies of the sun, moon and stars. ☀️ 🌙 ⭐️. The yellow flower resembles the sun, the puff ball resembles the moon and the dispersing seeds resemble the stars.

The dandelion flower opens to greet the morning and closes in the evening to go to sleep. 😴

Every part of the dandelion is useful: root, leaves, flower. It can be used for food, medicine and dye for coloring.

Up until the 1800s people would pull grass out of their lawns to make room for dandelions and other useful “weeds” like chickweed, malva, and chamomile.

The name dandelion is taken from the French word “dent de lion” meaning lion’s tooth, referring to the coarsely-toothed leaves. 🦁

Dandelions have one of the longest flowering seasons of any plant.

Dandelion seeds are often transported away by a gust of wind and they travel like tiny parachutes. Seeds are often carried as many as 5 miles from their origin!

Animals such as birds, insects and butterflies consume nectar or seed of dandelion.🐦 🐛 🐜 🦋 🐝.

Dandelion flowers do not need to be pollinated to form seed.

Dandelion can be used in the production of wine and root beer. Root of dandelion can be used as a substitute for coffee. 🍷 🍺

Dandelions have sunk their roots deep into history. They were well known to ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, and have been used in Chinese traditional medicine for over a thousand years.

Dandelion is used in folk medicine to treat infections and liver disorders. Tea made of dandelion act as diuretic.

If you mow dandelions, they’ll grow shorter stalks to spite you.

Dandelions are, quite possibly, the most successful plants that exist, masters of survival worldwide. 💪

A not so fun fact: Every year countries spend millions on lawn pesticides to have uniform lawns of non-native grasses, and we use 30% of the country’s water supply to keep them green.

Plant Trees and Live Longer!

In a study led by the US Department of Agriculture Forest Service, researchers found that each tree planted in a community was associated with significant reductions in non-accidental and cardiovascular mortality among humans living nearby.

On top of that, the study's authors conclude the yearly economic benefits of planting trees dramatically exceed the cost of maintaining them, by a factor of more than 1,000.

Previous studies have linked exposure to nature with an array of human health benefits. Access to nature is a major factor for mental health, and that doesn't necessarily require the greenery to be primeval wilderness. Research shows urban forests and street trees can offer comparable benefits.

Several longitudinal studies have shown that exposure to more vegetation is associated with lower non-accidental mortality, the authors of the new study note, and some have also linked exposure to greenery with reduced cardiovascular and respiratory mortality.
