Dad was born in Ungarie and has been a farmer is whole life👨‍🌾… until mum and dad sold the farm a few years back. 🌾

Retirement? oh no, not dad. 👨‍🌾 he had plans to cart grain and purchased a Mac truck.. you still seeing it on the road but without dad in it 🤭 why? well..

Henley’s Rustics was not planned, it just happened. In 2023, Dad pulled down an old building in Ungarie and was selling off the resources.. getting the corrugated iron ready to sell.. he turned a couple of sheets into a few garden beds.

Along comes Jo, ‘hey dad these are so cool, we should put them on marketplace’ and then Henley’s Rustics was born 🌱

What started as a side hobby.. it didn’t stay a hobby for long.. the demand exploded our minds.. ‘holy moly’.. so we have just gone with it… we learnt early on wicking garden beds were becoming more and more popular, (we didn’t even know what one was).. so dad invented his own Henley’s Rustics wicking garden bed.. and now they are equally as popular 🪴

We have no KPI’s, no targets, no business agenda.. besides helping people grow 🌱

My only rule to dad is, I will only sell reclaimed corrugated iron garden beds. Selling beds made from new sheets just doesn’t match who we are and where we come from. 🌾

Our corrugated iron is mostly from farm sheds, I love that we get to give them a new life as garden beds.. heart, charm and rural history. Our grandparents and parents put labour of love building these sheds back around the 1920s to 30s; I feel we are honouring the people who came before us. Okay dad is no fluff, but I am 🤭

Now back to Dad, in our little town of Ungarie, we now have two workshops and a hardworking team who we couldn’t do this without, Kerry and Katie 💓.
Dad works 7 days a week making garden beds and delivering them with mum by his side.

You see my face on here all the time but it’s dad, mum and the workshop team who are the people who make this all possible. I’m just sharing our story as it’s a bloody good one 🌾

Update on my Self-Watering Wicking Garden Bed 👩‍🌾🌱🪴

Scoria and soil has arrived today from Outback Soils here in Forbes 🥳

Whilst I was all excited I also chatted through a wicking garden bed overview 🙋‍♀️ dad will help me fill it up on Sunday.. so stay tuned for that 🥳

💛 Supporting Sammy Longmore and The Big Wheel 💛 Sam longmore| founder of OhhBulldust & sharer of life

I think what Sammy Longmore is doing is next level incredibly 💪👩‍🌾🌱🌾

💛 Raising Awareness and Funds for Rural Mental Health. 💛

From 27th June to 4th July, Sammmy will take on an epic journey, travelling 401km across the Riverina and Yass Valley in her wheelchair. Starting from Corowa on the 27th of June and ending up in Yass on the 4th of July, averaging more than 50km a day. 💪💓🌾👩‍🌾💛

Heading through Howlong, Albury, Gerogery, Culcairn, Henty, Yerong Creek, The Rock, Uranquinty, Wagga Wagga, Junee, Illabo, Bethungra, Cootamundra, Wallendbeen, Harden, Binalong and into Yass.

Majority of our customers and this online community are in rural areas, including the towns Sammy is going through in her wheelchair on The Big Wheel xx

Living in the bush, it is the best but it can be challenging.. at times we need support and it’s okay to say ‘I’m not okay, I need help’. Sammy’s mission is for rural people to have access to the support they deserve 💛

I am a huge advocate for wellbeing and mental health. I speak about regularly how I garden for wellbeing not just growing veggies. Nature and gardening is so powerful.. it’s a self-care lifestyle.. but at times you need more than this, you need professional support and guidance.. and that is okay. 💛🌱 I know I have 🌱

There are so many ways we can support Sammy and her mission:

A day of abundance 🌱👩‍🌾🪴🥳

Found lots of goodies in the patch today 👩‍🌾🌱 so lovely to harvest our first ever radish with mum today and to be able to serve up with afternoon tea, snow peas and sugar snap peas.. straight from the patch 🌱

I love winter patch veggies… 🤤🤤🤤

Harvested all today, all winter crops except the eggplant which is still producing from summer crops.

Central West 2 load 🌱🪴

Yesterday as day one and was an epic big day of garden bed deliveries 🌱🪴👨‍🌾💓

Mum and dad delivered a sold out load from Ungarie through to Bathurst.. delivering to homes and properties in Caragabal, Grenfell, Cowra, Fosters Valley, Oberon, Edith, Perthville, Eglinton, Bathurst.

Today heading to homes and properties in Millthorpe, Orange, Lidster, Candowindra, Forbes.. last stop my place in Forbes.. before heading back to Ungarie this afternoon 💓

At Henley’s Rustics… we do things old school 🌾👨‍🌾

Dad is a retired farmer, so we naturally do things that reflects those old school values.

🌾 Every order is manually organised by me personally. Sure, there are quicker ways to do things. But I truly believe we wouldn’t have the same connection with our customers 👩‍🌾🌱

🪴Our garden beds are hand made from reclaimed corrugated iron by dad and the team in Ungarie.… and then mum and dad get to meet our customers as personally deliver to peoples homes.

Since starting Henley’s Rustics in 2024, so many wonderful people have become part of the Henley’s Rustics family, and that’s been the biggest joys of all… The people 👩‍🌾

We want our customers to feel appreciated, supported and genuinely cared for. And honestly… I think that’s the beauty of doing things old school 👨‍🌾 💓

Welcome to Bec’s Patch in Dubbo 💓🌱 Rebecca Waugh

Often our customers order One Garden Bed or a Few.. and then I get a message.. hey Jo I’m ready for more 🤭🌱 and then often again.. hey Jo okay I’m ready for more.. 🤭😍🌱

Starting a patch, there are no rules.. order as many as you think you will need.. or start with a few and get more on future loads.

I have loved watching Bec’s garden grow and evolve 😍💓🌱 Bec has built up her patch to 5 garden beds over 3 loads to Dubbo.. starting her journey last Dec 🥳🌱💓

Bec messaged back in Jan ‘Yes nobody warned me how quickly it escalates from 1 garden bed! My poor hubby’

🤣🤣🤣 they should come with a warning label.. gardening is addictive and you will most likely order more 🤣🤭💓👩‍🌾

Bec shared- she is ‘harvesting so much spinach, salad greens, snow peas, spring onions, pak choy, radish, beetroot and silverbeet.

my zinnias are at the end of their cycle so I have to pull them out - I have been busy harvesting their seeds ready for next planting’
