Smoke alarms need love if you want to rely on them when a fire starts.

In most homes, smoke alarm batteries should be replaced once every year to help ensure reliable operation when you need them most.

At BCS Electrical we recommend you regularly test your smoke alarms - at least every few months. We know you don’t like that screeching sound, but you’ll appreciate it if an emergency occurs.

Check whether the unit itself has expired, as many alarms only last around 10 years.

Only part of the house without power?

Partial power issues can sometimes indicate a tripped circuit, faulty safety switch or electrical fault affecting one section of the property.

Often houses, particularly large ones, are divided into several circuits.

If resetting a tripped switch in your powerboard does not restore power, it is important to have the problem checked by a licensed electrician to avoid further damage or safety risks.
