With the recent cold mornings, we've been taking lots of calls from customers having issues with their split system air conditioning.

When it's cold outside, split system air conditioners often need to run a defrost cycle to stop the outdoor condenser from icing up.

Often, this can appear to be a fault because the unit will be switched on but won't be blowing out any air.

Defrost cycles can take around 10-40minutes, and it's important to let it complete the cycle for correct unit operation.

If the unit hasn't come good, take the time to read the troubleshooting section in your manual or look for a flashing fault code on the indoor or error message on the controller.

How's this for a transformation? Our customer wanted more light in her garage for when she arrived home and as needed at other times.

We installed 4 downlights and a motion sensor so that when the door starts going up the lights come on and makes it safe to park and walk inside.

Next, we added a 3 position switch to bypass the sensor in case you're spending more than 5 minutes in the garage.

A very happy customer and who can blame her look at the difference.
