Our plants aren’t the only things thriving around here šŸ’“

Grateful for the beautiful humans who drive through our gates and take the time to share the love.

I know you’ve missed it… the plant puns are back and truthfully, so are we, I’ve missed you.

I’m so sorry I’ve been a little MIA on here lately. Life has been full behind the scenes, but our little nursery community means so much to us and it feels so good to be back.

Now let’s talk about what’s happening up the hill… although its been warm we have worked are to feed and nurture the plants and honestly it is a little bit magical at Rowes right now.

The Crepe Myrtles? Absolute show-offs. Divine. Dreamy. Swaying in the breeze like they know they’re the main character.
20cm pots $36.50
25cm pots $55

Our 20cm potted Grafted Flowering Gums? Stop it. The colour. The drama. The presence a real Aussie icon.
Stunning at $69.95.

And the natives… oh the natives.
So many looking lush, vibrant and completely gorgeous, starting from just $8.50ea Honestly, it’s hard to walk past without taking one, or five, home.

Affordable? Yes.
But more importantly, grown with care, selected for quality, and ready to thrive in your garden.

If you’ve been thinking about planting, this is your sign. Come wander. Come be inspired. Come see what’s looking beautiful.

It’s a pretty special time to visit.

We’ll be closing the gate a little early today as our young nursery man Huddy is representing the WDCA in the U12s against Leongather, and we’ll be on the sidelines cheering him on.

Growing quality plants and creating an environment our customers can trust is at the heart of everything we do. It matters just as much to us as our family. Creating a balance where we can show up fully for both business and family is imperative to the longevity of our nursery, and it’s the very reason we work so hard at what we do.

Not only does Huddy do a cracking job around the nursery, but GCL looks pretty good on him too. šŸŒæšŸ

Summer Garden SOS 🌿

We’ve touched on this already, but as the heat really settles in, your plants don’t need to be pushed to grow. They need care, support and protection.

Although we actually think this can be a really good time to plant. Warm soils help encourage strong root growth, giving plants the best possible chance heading into winter, as long as watering is kept up daily and consistently through these warmer days.

That’s why right now we’re reaching for Seasol, We the Wild and pine bark mulch. A simple, thoughtful trio that helps both new and established plants cope through summer.

✨ Seasol
A little bit of stress relief for your garden. It supports root health, improves resilience and helps plants recover from heat, dryness and transplant shock.

🌱 We the Wild
Gentle, organic and kind to the soil. It feeds beneficial microbes, improves soil health and strengthens plants naturally, even when conditions are tough.

šŸ‚ Pine Bark Mulch
One of the best things you can do in summer. It keeps roots cool, locks in moisture and protects the soil from extreme temperatures.

šŸ’” Our summer advice
Water deeply in the evening
Add mulch to protect roots
Feed gently and thoughtfully, and hold off on fertilising during hot days to avoid stressing plants further.

Pop in and have a chat with us. We’re always happy to help you choose what’s right for your garden. No pressure, just good advice 🌿

Our plants have decided tomorrow is a sleep-in kind of morning šŸŒ±šŸ’¤ It’s a public holiday after all.

We’ll be opening our gates a little later, from 10am–4pm tomorrow, once everyone’s had an extra stretch, a sip of coffee or two, and a well deserved slow start for Amy & Luke.

See you for a gentle wander when we’re all awake šŸŒæā˜•ļø

You might think for a moment these are spring snaps, yet I can tell you, I’ve literally taken them this morning.

Petals doing their own thing. Colours turned all the way up. Pinks, corals, butter yellows and those deep, juicy tones that feel like summer laughing out loud.

So mesmerised by the fun, splashy colour we’re gifted with at this time of year. A little reminder that nature doesn’t wait for the ā€œrightā€ season, it just shows up, bold and beautiful.

Today’s Garden Note 🌿

Today is one of those days where the heat settles in early. The kind that stills the garden by mid day and asks us to slow down and notice.

If you can, step outside now and check in on your plants. Pots may need to be moved into shade, and anything young or newly planted will appreciate a little protection from the afternoon sun. Today isn’t about pushing growth. It’s about helping plants get through.

Mulch where you can. Even a small layer helps keep roots cool (remember to donut the mulch, not volcano it). Skip pruning and fertilising.
Heat like this calls for rest.

🌸 And the hydrangeas…
They feel days like today more than most.
Our grandmothers understood this instinctively. On hot days, they’d hang old sheets or tablecloths over their hydrangeas, pegged up just enough to soften the sun. No fuss. Just care.

If your hydrangeas are wilting right now, or they have browned, don’t panic. It’s common in extreme heat. Shade them today if you can, and give them a deep slow drink this evening once the sun drops. Most will lift again by morning.

If your garden looks tired today, that’s okay. It’s working hard just to cope.

We’re here if you need advice, reassurance, or a quiet garden chat, feel free to call or pop in for any questions. Take care of yourself and your garden today 🌿✨

šŸ Once upon a garden…
there stood a tree that didn’t sprawl or shout, it simply stood tall and elegant, catching the light and turning heads as the seasons changed.

Meet Crimson Sentry Maple, a storybook worthy tree with rich crimson leaves and a beautiful upright form, perfect for adding magic without taking over your yard.

The practical bits (because magic should be easy):
🌳 Height: Grows approx. 6–8m tall but stays narrow
ā˜€ļø Light: Full sun to part shade for best colour
šŸ Fun fact #1: Its deep red foliage holds its colour right through the warmer months
šŸ Fun fact #2: Ideal for driveways, feature plantings and smaller gardens where space matters

If your garden needs a little drama, a little structure and a whole lot of charm, this one’s ready to star in your landscape šŸāœØ
