GT Hardwood We produce a large range of Green Off Saw Hardwood, Decking, Shiplap and Wall Panel. All locally grown on our property.

All milled, dried and processed on site using local staff. We deliver from Hervey Bay to Byron Bay and all the bays in between!

During winter the days get a bit short so quite often we run out of daylight.
So we put some new LED lights on our Log Loaders and then added a few to the truck and then we started doing a few loads at night.

Hardwood trees die for many reasons. Disease, Old age, Die back
Dry weather, Damage from lightning strike and
Damage from fire. Rather than allowing them to fall over and be taken by the next fire, we salvage them and save the timber.

Our Locally Grown Queensland Hardwood quite obviously lends itself to building durable outdoor structures. The timber seems to be able to stand up to the harshest conditions. The steel fixings commonly used in these outdoor builds may not be as good as we think.

We kicked off in 2021 with some interesting projects. We had four Mechanical Harvesting Heads in our workshop for a refurb. A CAT log Skidder, A Timbco Harvester plus some work on our Compressors, Drying Racks and more.

Nowadays we see a lot of products getting smaller. And in most cases the price stays the same. At GT Hardwood we like things to be bigger and stronger. Not only did we machine our decking thicker and wider, we also mill our Floor Joist 6mm deeper and 10 mm wider.

We got the MACK back home to Woodford. Then we put her into our workshop and went over it with a fine toothed comb in preparation for Rego tomorrow and then for it’s first load of logs the following day.

We harvest a lot of old and damaged third grade salvage logs from our property. If we don’t gather them up, they end up being burnt. Rather than see them get wasted, we take them to the Sawmill and see if we can get some useable timber out of them. In doing so, we’re making room for the younger trees in the immediate area to get a go on. In most cases the trees are ugly looking things so we put them up on the Canadian Saw to break them down.

Milling Hardwood is not easy. There isn’t a day go by here that something doesn’t go wrong! And when it does we usually need some special gear to help us out. But it’s all OK because we’re ready for just about anything!

We do a fair bit of road work on our private property mainly so we can keep it in good condition. To build and maintain our roads on our private property we need some special gear for the job.
In most cases there’s logs involved so we need to take some logging equipment with us for the mission. We’ve got a bit of a road project to do so we’re loading up early in the morning and we’re heading bush for a few weeks.
