Always good to check the top funnels of your water tanks, especially when surrounded by a canopy of trees, you might just have seeds sprouting in among the leaf litter and getting access to moisture/water via the tank of down pipe feeding into it. This was a 2.5m tree growing out of the top, luckily it had 2 layers of mesh and never got through the mesh screen that came with the tank.

Good thing to clear everything couple of months and remove any seedling that have sprouted to avoid this kind of issue. The roots were growing back up into the down pipe towards the roof gutters where the water source is coming from. That root was about 1.5m long. This might mean that the gutters will also need to be flushed.

Slash, mow and mulch to put back that energy and biomass into your garden, especially in poor sandy/rocky conditions. Recycle clippings for composting or mulching other garden features. Reuse and reallocate those organic resources as much as possible before considering exporting off the property for someone else to profit from that energy.
