5mm flood of DL59 - 40MPa premium floor self-levelling compound across the entire ground floor, creating the perfect foundation for a custom Herringbone + Border feature floor installation starting Monday 🔨

One of the biggest misconceptions in flooring is that the cost is simply based on a sqm price. What many clients don't see is the extensive preparation work required before a single board is installed.

In this project, the existing concrete slab/screed subfloor required a full flood coat of premium 40MPa self-levelling compound to achieve the flatness tolerances needed for a precision herringbone installation. With a decorative border feature planned throughout the home, there is absolutely no room for imperfections in the subfloor.

The finished floor is only ever as good as the foundation beneath it.

At Imperial Flooring Australia®️, we only install our engineered timber flooring using a full glue down system - no floating floors. Why? Because a proper direct stick installation delivers a more solid feel underfoot, reduces movement, minimises hollow sounds and gives better long-term stability for Australian conditions.

But the most important step starts before the flooring even goes down… sealing the slab correctly.
Every concrete slab contains moisture. If it’s not properly sealed, that moisture can eventually lead to flooring movement, cupping, adhesive failure and costly repairs. That’s why we always use a professional moisture barrier system before installation.
