Well… this isn’t the update we were expecting to share. 😳

After purchasing Hazelwood Estate and spending months planning our dream renovation, we received the news that 9 out of 9 asbestos samples tested positive.

The result? We can no longer live on-site during the renovation as planned.

To make things even more challenging, we’re due to move out of our family home within the next four weeks, we’re both transferring police stations, the kids are preparing to start a new school, and now we’re suddenly searching for a rental while trying to keep one of the biggest projects we’ve ever taken on moving forward.

It’s definitely not how we imagined this chapter starting, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that renovations rarely go to plan.

We’re taking you behind the scenes of the highs, the lows, the wins and the setbacks as we transform this tired Tudor-style home into our dream European farmhouse.

May / June dump 🤍

To be honest, it’s been a lot.

The past few months have been filled with excitement, uncertainty, big decisions and some really special moments in between.

We’re preparing to leave a community that has been home for so many years and step into a completely new chapter in Mandurah. A new area, new schools, a new police station and the chance to build a life in a place we barely know.

It’s exciting, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t a little overwhelming too.

Lately I’ve found myself caught between wanting to slow down and soak it all in, and wanting to keep pushing forward towards everything we’re working so hard for.

For now, we’re making memories, soaking up these beaches that have been the backdrop to so much of our story, and trusting that this next chapter will be worth every bit of uncertainty that comes with it.

Everyone keeps asking what we’re actually doing with this place.

So here it is, the vision for Hazelwood Estate. And this is just the start.

A 40 year old Tudor home on 5.5 acres that hasn’t been touched since the 80s. And a very clear picture of what she’s going to become.

This first one is all about the overall feel, the façade, the entrance and the landscape. But trust us, the inside is something else entirely. We can’t wait to share what we have planned.

We’d be lying if we said it wasn’t a little terrifying. But this is exactly the kind of project we were made for.

The sleepless nights, the feeds around the clock, the days that seemed to blur into one. In the moment, it felt like it would last forever.

Then somehow, the tiny baby who only wanted to be held is suddenly running ahead of you, making friends, cracking jokes, and needing you a little less each day.

It’s funny how the seasons that feel the longest are often the ones that pass the fastest.

If you’re in the thick of it right now, exhausted and wondering if you’ll ever get a full night’s sleep again, you will.

And one day you’ll look back and realise that what felt endless was actually just a chapter🥺
