Don't forget to prep the garden for the Christmas heat.

Deep water in the mornings whilst it is still cool allowing time for the water to pe*****te into the soil below the mulch, ensure your mulch layer is thick (over 10cms is ideal for Perth summers) and add a temporary shade for the next few days.

If you have backyard chickens, replace their water with fresh cool water in the heat of the day and add ice too, also ensure they have plenty of shade.
