Once again the weather conditions affected play this week.

There was no play on Saturday due to overnight and early morning rain and the cold conditions throughout the day.

On Thursday morning two games of the Women’s Singles Championship were completed.

The game between Margaret Gailey and Elsie Hines had an even start with the score at 7-all after the first 8 ends.

After 13 ends Margaret led 11–10 but from that point on Elsie dominated the scoring to win 25–12.

In the second game Sheila Traynor played Lisa Boyd. Sheila held an early lead of 6–1 but after 10 ends the scores were level at 8-all.

The scores were level again at 14-all and 15–all and after 21 ends Sheila led 19–15. Lisa then won 4 consecutive ends to take out the game 25–19.

Thursday afternoon saw 12 men involved in games of two-bowl triples.

The results for the two games were that Harold Anderson, Chris Wright and Ian Schofield won their game 20–19 after the scores were level at 19–all going into the final end and Ray Martin, Albert Carter and Aldo Malvicino had a very i

convincing 32–19 win in their game.

Players are reminded that entries for the Club Triples Championship close on Saturday 27th June.

This year the State Championship Finals are being played at Dubbo with Regional winners from all sixteen regions competing.

Jonathon Watson, Damien Miller and David Quigley will be contesting the Men’s Triples that is scheduled to be played on 27th to 29th June.

Their first game will be played on the afternoon of 27th against a team from Bargo.

Also in their section are teams from Raymond Terrace and West Dubbo.

The section winner will progress to the semi–finals. The semi–finals and final are scheduled to be played on 29th June.

Damien and David have also qualified for the Men’s Pairs and their first game is against a team from Tuncurry Beach on 30th June.

Their other two sectional games are on 1st July involving teams from Davistown and Lightning Ridge.

On Monday 6th July Damien and David will be joined by Jonathon Watson and Brian Madden for the first round of the Men’s Fours against a team from Raymond Terrace.

The other two teams in their section come from Kurri Kurri and Penrith.

The semi–finals and final of this event are scheduled for Wednesday 8th July.

On behalf of our club members good luck to these players in their State Finals matches.

Young Junior Rugby League’s (YJRL) annual charity fundraiser this year will support the local Motor Neurone Disease (MND) fundraising campaign.

YJRL Secretary Amy Downey said this will ensure “that money raised stays within the local community and helps those affected by this devastating disease.”

The major charity fundraising day will be held at Keith Cullen Oval on Saturday the 25th of July.

Players, families, supporters and the wider community will come together for a day of fundraising, rugby league and community spirit.

Leading up to the day, the Club is running its popular 100 Club fundraiser. An exciting twist added this year is the Big Plunge campaign, where mystery plungers are revealed as fundraising targets are reached.

“The fundraising campaign continues to build momentum, with the club aiming to raise an ambitious $7,000 by 25 July.

Each milestone reached unlocks another mystery plunger, creating plenty of excitement and encouraging the community to get behind the cause,” said Amy.

One of the highlights on the fundraising day will be a major raffle.

Generous local businesses have already got behind the cause and donated prizes.

Businesses or individuals wishing to support the fundraiser can get involved by donating raffle prizes or financial contributions.

To get involved, contact the Young Junior Rugby League Club on their page.

The Club is encouraging everyone to get involved.

“Young Junior Rugby League encourages everyone to come along on 25 July, purchase raffle tickets, support the 100 Club and help make a difference in the fight against MND.”

“Together, the Young community can help turn every dollar raised into hope, support and awareness for those affected by Motor Neurone Disease,” said Amy.
