VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd. contributes to the international exhibition Designers of Mountain and Water: Alternative Landscapes for a Changing Climate, currently on view at the Druker Design Gallery, Harvard University Graduate School of Design (GSD), Cambridge, MA, USA.

The exhibition runs from January 20 to May 15, 2026, and presents 58 selected projects by 23 leading design firms from around the world, addressing urgent questions of climate change through landscape, water systems, and urban transformation.

VITTI’s featured projects, “Baburail Canal Restoration, Hatirjheel Integrated Development, and Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park,” represent Bangladesh on this global platform in a conversation that connects local landscapes with global challenges.

Friends and colleagues who are in or around Cambridge and Boston during the exhibition period are warmly invited to visit the gallery and experience the exhibition in person.

"Hatirjheel Wins Asian Townscape Award 2025"

Dhaka’s Hatirjheel Integrated Development Project, designed by VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd for Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), has been honoured with the 2025 Asian Townscape Award (ATA) in the Lakes and Lakeside Area Development category.

To receive the Award, VITTI Sthapati Brindo Ltd Directors, Architect Iqbal Habib and Architect Ishtiaque Zahir were present in Hong Kong along with the client, RAJUK Chairman Engr. Md. Rezaul Islam at the ceremony held on 27 November 2025 at CIC–Zero Carbon Park, Hong Kong.

The Asian Townscape Awards are collaboratively presented by UN-HABITAT, Asian Habitat Society (AHS), Fukuoka Asian Urban Research Center (URC), and Asia Townscape Design Society (ATDeS). This year, 11 projects from 7 countries were selected from 72 submissions across Asia, and both Bangladesh and India secured notable achievements among five award categories. Dhaka received the Asian Townscape Award 2025 for the lake and water body development category for it's Hatirjheel integrated development project. Previously, Bangladesh received 3 Jurors Award, but it's the first time Dhaka received the project as the city for lakes and lakeside area development.

The Hatirjheel project’s success reflects the combined efforts of all stakeholders involved in creating a sustainable and model lakeside urban environment.

We are jubilant to share that Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed Park has been recognized with four prestigious international awards: the AIA International Region Merit Award for Urban Design (2021), LOOP Design Award (2022), 17th International Design Awards (Silver) (2023), CAA Environmental Impact Award (2024). And most recently, the Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture (2024) in Bangladesh.

Moments like these remind us of the profound responsibility that comes with recognition. These accolades are not just about celebrating a project; they’re about reaffirming our commitment to creating spaces that truly touch lives, spaces where dignity, belonging, and connection thrive. In addition, the park is a trailblazer in Bangladesh’s urban design, achieving five SDGs while promoting inclusivity, environmental stewardship, and community resilience.

Praised by jurors for its thoughtful simplicity, the park has been designed with just the right elements required to serve the community—nothing excessive or unnecessary. Its understated, low-key design is its defining feature. With minimal interventions, the park successfully caters to people of all demographics, making it a truly inclusive and functional urban space.

Above all, this recognition belongs to every hand, heart, and voice that shaped this park—from the community members who shared their dreams to the collaborators who worked tirelessly to bring them to life. Together, we’ve shown that public spaces can be more than functional—they can inspire, heal, and unite.
