(Construction site tour) Two weeks ago, our team headed to West Flanders for our annual office excursion — a tradition that takes us out of the studio and into the sites and projects that shape our work.
The day began in Roeselare, where we visited the newly renovated and extended city hall. The project reconnects the building with the Grote Markt and combines heritage restoration with a contemporary addition that brings together public services, administration and sustainability within a single civic framework.
From there, we continued to the former Saint Godelieve Abbey in Bruges, currently under construction. Developed in close collaboration between B-architecten and B-juxta, the project guides a phased transformation of the site, combining restoration, adaptive reuse and new interventions around a sequence of connected gardens and public spaces.
The final stop was the Gruuthusemuseum, where B-juxta led the restoration of one of Bruges’ most significant heritage ensembles. The works carefully conserved façades, roofs, interiors and decorative elements, contributing to the renewed reading of the building’s layered history.
More than a series of site visits, the annual excursion is a moment to experience projects across different stages — from design and construction to completion — and to see how ideas evolve once they become built reality.
