END GRAIN DINING TABLE

Raw Bronze & Wenge Wood

Reference: EGDT

The round table was one of Jules Wabbes’s favorite creations. It was specifically designed for the house of a private client in Antwerp in 1966. The thick tabletop is made of rectangular blocks of wenge (Millettia laurentii) glued together to form an end grain board.

ROUND COFFEE TABLE

Grigio Alpi & Raw Bronze

The round coffee table is designed like the end grain dining table. The stand is composed of five raw bronze cast elements screwed onto a central pentagonal shaft. Each element has a triangular, but curved, section whose three edges are polished, a subtle detail that lightens and emphasises the structure. In the past, Jules Wabbes allowed the choice of the material for the tabletop, such as glass, stone, and more. We opted for “Grigio Alpi”, a natural, light gray limestone from northern Italy, distinguished by the presence of macrofossils.

HONEYCOMB WALL LAMP

Nickel-plated Brass (1953)

The Honeycomb Wall Lamp is composed of 32 hexagonal tubes brazed by hand. This iconic lamp was designed in 1953 for the high entrance hall of the Declercq’s house built by André Jacqmain and Jules Wabbes. To ensure it could be seen from both below and above, Jules Wabbes designed a lamp made of soldered hexagonal tube sections, so that the light source is filtered from both sides by the metallic structure. It decorated the apartment of the King and Queen of Belgium on the Godetia, the ship of the Belgian Navy.
