- Arie Grafland, The Socious of Architecture

The renovation of 46 social housing units is now complete. Rotiers redefines the building’s identity in dialogue with its surroundings, transforming it into a more open, generous and livable place.

The project works across multiple scales - from interior living quality to entrance sequences - while giving a central role to shared outdoor spaces that foster everyday encounters and strengthen neighborhood life.

A new energy-efficient façade wraps the building in a durable tiled skin. Its shimmering surface reflects the shadows of surrounding trees, bringing depth and light while preserving the calm, poetic atmosphere of the site.

Openings are reworked to frame views and activate the threshold between inside and outside, enhancing both domestic life and social interaction.
More than a renovation, the project redefines the relationship between the building, its inhabitants and its landscape - creating a place that supports comfort, intimacy and a renewed sense of belonging.

Located on the grounds of a former 1950s convent in Genk, this project introduces 45 new homes thoughtfully integrated into the existing landscape.

The development brings together three housing typologies: three apartment buildings, six three-storey townhouses, and five two-storey terraced houses, all set within the former convent’s gardens.
The design is guided by a strong dialogue between architecture and landscape. The existing gardens form the heart of the site, structuring a variety of living environments around distinct outdoor spaces: a kitchen garden, a central communal garden, and a butterfly garden.

This layered landscape preserves a rich green character while creating subtle transitions between public and private garden spaces.

The new Etterbeek station aims to balance transport scales and modalities while ensuring urban porosity along the railway corridor. The project repositions the station as both an engine of urban dynamism and a key connection within the metropolitan transport system.

The proposal is developed through the notion of the expanded station, extending the project beyond its strict footprint to engage the surrounding urban and landscape systems.

The intervention is organised around three complementary urban figures:
- the forecourt, acting as an urban seam between the station and the city
- the intermodal hub beneath the roof structure, concentrating and distributing mobility flows
- the garden, extending towards the university campus and anchoring the project within the Woluwe valley landscape

At the centre of the composition, the circular volume guides passenger movements, provides a visible information point from the public realm, oversees the forecourt, integrates a platform-oriented waiting area and accommodates a concession accessible to all users.

As the project evolves, ongoing research by design continues to refine the choice of materials, the structural expression and the level of detailing, with particular attention to durability, clarity and user comfort.
