MDW ARCHITECTURE Architectural practice based in Brussels Founded in 2001 by Marie Moignot and Xavier De Wil, MDW Architecture is now strong of 30 staff.

Our ethos is to combine the highest standards of creativity and sustainability. We are committed to offering design excellence to each client, either public or private and independently of the scale of the project. Each request is looked into thoroughly so that the solution reaches beyond the brief. The freshness of our approach has been recognised by several awards. Building on many years of expe

rience in low-energy and passive projects of the highest standards in terms of energy efficiency and sustainable construction, we now integrate these principles in our schemes as naturally as structural engineering. In 2010, MDWโ€™s Savonnerie Heymans complex of 42 accommodations, nursery and several public spaces was awarded the high profile Belgian Award for Energy and Environment in the Eco Building category. We see our relationship with our clients as a partnership, a continuous dialogue where everyone brings something to the other. Our interest in dialogue is also incarnated in the way our projects weave relations with their context and their occupants. We enjoy managing wide and complex projects that require an enriching multi-disciplinarity and where the architect acts as a conductor, whose global vision can guarantee the rightness of the music.

In an age of fake news and mistrust, RTBF has made a bold choice to embrace openness. Designed incollaboration with V+, the main faรงade stands out as a vast, gently curved screen that reveals the raw process of news production.

By projecting the media hive directly onto the public space at the heart of the MediaPark, the architecture breaks away from the opacity of the commercial sector to re-establish a direct and transparent dialogue with the public. Furthermore, Media Square literally opens up to the public by making its ground floor accessible via the restaurant and the multi-purpose hall.

Set against the imposing mass of the old building, the RTBFโ€™s new headquarters stands out with restraint and clarity. Designed as a large, multi-purpose workshop rather than an administrative block, the building emphasises materiality, dialogue and direct interaction between teams.

From the competition in 2015 to todayโ€™s opening, this project represents more than 10 years of an intense architectural journey for MDW Architecture. A huge thank you to all the hands and minds that have shaped this space, from the first sketch to the final touches on site.

This achievement is, above all, a collective triumph.

Regular visitors to the site will already know: the new RTBF headquarters, designed in collaboration with the V+ architectural practice, remains hidden from view, tucked away just behind the existing Reyers building.

As the countdown to the opening begins, architectural critics are the first to weigh in. The project is featured simultaneously in the latest issue of + Architecture Belgium and in the selection for Inventaires d'architecture #5 by Wallonie-Bruxelles.

๐Ÿ  Relais is now complete โ€” a renewed social housing complex in Ixelles.

After more than four years of work and the continuous efforts of the teams, the 52 social housing units on Rue du Relais in Ixelles have been delivered and inaugurated.

Taking care of the existing structure was at the heart of our approach:
๐Ÿ”น restoration of the heritage faรงades of the building, which was designed in the 1920s;
๐Ÿ”น complete reorganisation of the floor plans to give a double exposure for each flat: more light and private outdoor spaces;
๐Ÿ”น creation of duplexes in the attic and brick extensions on the garden side while respecting the original architectural spirit;
๐Ÿ”น redevelopment of the blockโ€™s garden into a convivial space that encourages interaction between neighbours
