This design study for an orphanage project in Taxila, Pakistan was foreseen to grow
over a decade providing a nurturing environment for young girls. The design
investigated vernacular building typologies, sustainable green techniques, and
optimum functional and circulation schemes. Catering to the living and educational
needs of 50 girls, the building was supposed to be a self sufficient, sustainable
building with its own solar energy, water and garbage recycling and urban farming.

“A (DREAM) School for Palestine”

A School Reconciling Reality and Dreams Via Learning and Play
A Modular, Sustainable, Flexible and Emergency Responsive Circus School Inspired Spatial
Solution for Education / Physical and Mental Health / Youth and Community Development for
Khan al Ahmar.
This design proposal is inspired by our interaction with and study of the
Palestinian Circus School. Research into their reality-based vision and on groundwork in
Palestine has led us towards our concept of a
“Practical Utopia – A School Reconciling Reality and Dreams Via Learning and Play”
This holistic approach integrates education, emergency relief, and skill development, offering a
transformative, hopeful future for Palestinian youth and communities.

Heritage Restoration and Conservation Processes above all require a love and respect for historical
artefacts and architecture. This needs coupling with an expertise in historical materials
documentation, meticulous drawings, heritage restoration guidelines to ensure an effective and
qualitative project.
For the Khalikdina Hall restoration projects each step taken by SAP architects and their team
demanded precision and following a strict set of SOP’s and protocols turning what seemed like a
simple task into a complex and highly rewarding undertaking.

The successful aesthetic and qualitative restoration of the KHL project owes largely to the
exceptional craftsmen who worked on it. Led admirably by Engineer Shakiluzzaman Khan the skilled
craftsmen, with their unparalleled expertise, undertook the meticulous task of breathing a new life
into the degraded interior of the building. The teak wood and limestone elements that define the
building’s rich architectural vocabulary were hidden under multiple layers of paint and grit. With
great precision and attention to detail, these artisans carefully restored each piece to its original
glory. Their dedication and commitment to their craft and the public interest project ensured that
the architectural heritage of Karchi continues to be appreciated by future generations.
