However, its historic height was calculated not out of pride, but out of profound religious humility by its legendary architect, Antoni Gaudí. He deliberately designed the structure to stand exactly one meter shorter than the nearby Montjuïc Hill, the city's highest natural point, declaring, “The work of man should never surpass the work of God.” By refusing to let human architecture overtake the natural skyline, Gaudí transformed his life's crowning structural achievement into an enduring act of devotion to the Creator.

🌿 Northcote Project — An Urban Sanctuary for Family Life

What if your home could grow with your family while staying connected to nature?

That was the brief behind our Northcote Project — to create a place where a young family could connect, gather and make lasting memories, while thoughtfully responding to the constraints of an inner-suburban site beside a train line.

The result is a home that feels like a hidden sanctuary in the city.

Three modular structures come together to form a “U”-shaped design, wrapping around a central courtyard and productive gardens. This layout creates a natural flow through the home while encouraging visual and physical connection to outdoor spaces — bringing nature into everyday life through biophilic design principles.

Designed with passive solar principles achieving a 7-star rating, the home works with the environment rather than against it. Offsite modular construction and carefully selected sustainable materials reduce environmental impact, while integrated systems such as solar power, efficient hot water and rainwater harvesting support long-term operational efficiency.

From the street, the façade is quiet and understated — evoking a sense of curiosity.

But step inside and the home reveals itself as a warm, light-filled family haven, rich with character and deeply connected to its surroundings.

A home designed not just for today, but for the memories a family will make for years to come.
