The inauguration of Thra Lham Lham Nursery Farm, a new branch of Bhutan Seedlings, was successfully held on an auspicious day as per the Bhutanese calendar, 6 January 2026, at Bijanbari, Nganglam, Pemagatshel Dzongkhag.

The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Dasho Dechen Choling, Managing Director of Dungsam Cement Corporation Limited (DCCL), and was spiritually blessed by the presence of Dechhenling Lama Thungsi, Threma Lama, Dechhenling and Tersaling Gelongs, and Tsampas, marking the occasion as both meaningful and auspicious.

The event was attended by Gups from Chokhorling, Dechhenling, and Norbugang Gewogs, Tsogpas, Drungkhag officials, Bazar Thuemis, Royal Bhutan Police officers, school principals and teachers, BIFA members, as well as relatives, family members, and villagers, reflecting strong community participation and support.

The inauguration program was further enriched by traditional cultural dances, celebrating Bhutan’s rich heritage, followed by evening gatherings and a late-night campfire, fostering unity, warmth, and a sense of togetherness among all present.

The establishment of Thra Lham Lham Nursery Farm aimed to reduce reliance on imported fruit tree saplings and betel vine leaves from neighboring countries, ensure an adequate and diverse supply of quality seedlings in the domestic market, and bridge existing supply gaps left by NSC and other private suppliers. The nursery was also envisioned to support national initiatives such as the Million Tree Plantation Project (MFTPP) and GMC landscaping and artwork (Gelephu Mindfulness City), serve as an educational hub for farmers, promote biodiversity conservation through indigenous and exotic ornamental and floriculture plant species, create employment opportunities for rural youth, and help minimize rural-to-urban migration.

The successful inauguration marked an important milestone toward strengthening local seedling production and promoting sustainable agriculture in the region.
