Focus: Supporting Survivors of Digital Violence

Survivors of digital violence often suffer in silence. The harassment may be online, but the emotional wounds are real: fear, isolation, shame, anxiety and loss of confidence.

How to Support a Survivor:
✨ Don’t minimize their experience.
✨ Listen without judgement.
✨ Encourage them to keep evidence of abuse.
✨ Help them report or block abusers.
✨ Respect their privacy and choices.
✨ Direct them to support organizations.
✨ Check up on them, even a simple “Are you okay?” goes a long way.

Support is not always loud. Sometimes it’s quiet, consistent and kind.

Focus: Catfishing & Impersonation

Catfishing is when someone creates a fake identity online to deceive, manipulate or exploit others. Women and girls are often targeted by fake profiles pretending to be romantic interests, employers, mentors or clients.

How it harms:
•Emotional manipulation
•Fraud and scams
•Blackmail
•Trust issues and psychological trauma

How to stay safe:
•Verify profiles before engaging
•Avoid sending personal photos or information to strangers
•Be cautious of online “opportunities” that seem too good to be true
•Report fake accounts immediately
