Loving seeing Tracy grow up to be a fine Chimp!! Good job Chimp Haven for allowing Chimps to life a chimps life.
The next generation is emerging.

Who remembers our OG oops baby, Tracy? Tracy has grown older and wiser, and now she passes on her wisdom to the younger girls, teaching them how to roll down hills and climb trees. She may not be a baby anymore, but she is still a certified cutie!!

Had the extreme pleasure and amazing coincidence of attending the opening of Houston Zoo's Galapagos Exhibit while I was passing through Houston! Lee Ehmke and his team (SH|R) has created a magnificent immersion exhibit at the entrance to the zoo. Animals include Galapagos Tortoise, Sea Lions, Penguin, Iguana and sea horses and jellies in a dramatically beautiful, indoor/outdoor sequence. It's a contender for 2023 Exhibit award for sure. Congratulations Houston Zoo and Lee! and thanks for including me on the guest list for some pretty nice parties!

I have a google alert for “zoo” news and this is the first time in twenty years that EVERY article on the list of 10 stories was on this! This is serious. The crazies are at the zoo killing endangered species - snd this must stop. Still don’t know how the bird was killed but this is a big story picked up by everybody. Even the Ursa website!!

Officials believe the endangered bird died after suffering an intentional, fatal wound.

Had the pleasure of giving a one-hour lecture to three Science classrooms of 4-5th graders at the Menlo Park Academy in Cleveland on "Wellness for Zoo Animals". They were given the assignment to design a zoo enclosure for three animal species and two plant species. While I am always happy to share my work, it's especially rewarding to share it with enthusiastic youngster before they turn into troubled teens who don't care. These guys were great!

With all the excitement of the Election and Covid-19 - I never got a chance to officially (on FB) congratulate Zoo New England on the birth of a(nother) Male Gorilla!

So adorable!

The press release said on October 14th, "At 6:35 p.m., the 6 pound, 3 ounce gorilla infant was delivered. He’s a big baby, as gorilla infants typically weigh 3-5 pounds, and is the first male gorilla ever born at Franklin Park Zoo."

This was a cesarean birth with some complications - and there was lots of assistance from Boston Area hospitals. Good Job Dr. Eric! Mom, Kiki apparently is resting comfortable - no mention of who the Dad was...This was Kiki fourth child, first male.
