Meet our Burnaby Heritage House! Maximizing lot coverage while respecting the integrity of an established neighbourhood is always a balancing act, and this project has required a thoughtful approach to both. Still in its early concept stage, we’ve been intentional with the proportions, rooflines, and craftsman details so this home feels like it’s always belonged on the street. What do you think?

THREE SISTERS RESIDENCE - With several family members each bringing their own design vision to the table, this project called for a careful blend of complementary styles, drawing influence from Modern Farmhouse, Transitional, and Contemporary elements to create something everyone could fall in love with and call home.

Our role in the design process for any multi-family home is to listen closely and find the threads that connect individual preferences, weaving them into something that feels unified. Every person should be able to look at the finished home and see a piece of themselves in it, while the home as a whole still reads as exactly that, one home, designed with purpose and intention, not a building divided into separate units.

This particular project came with several added layers of complexity, from ALR zoning and flood zone requirements to ADU applications and everything in between. Collaborating closely with the builder from day one made all the difference, keeping everything aligned and moving forward as smoothly as possible.

These projects require a lot. A lot of strategy, a lot of problem-solving, a lot of patience. But when it all comes together, there's nothing quite like it.

About a year ago we introduced this home in our feed with a caption that said “Good design takes time, and we’re here for the long haul.”

Well it's true! In this case, that meant working through a multi-year plan the homeowners had for developing their property the right way.

There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes. Navigating zoning and approvals, working through layout options for multiple family units, and making sure everything fits both the people and property.

We’re now getting close to finishing up our work, with the ADU application submitted within the ALR and renderings for this house underway (they are going to be so so good).

Latest look at how our Langley Equestrian Estate is shaping up. With the equestrian centre under construction, we’re now finishing the plans for this West Coast Craftsman-inspired home.

We approached this project with one cohesive vision from the start, designing the barn with details we knew we could intentionally carry through to the home.

The home is strategically positioned to take in views from both the front and back porches, with a suite integrated off the garage for multi-family living.

We love how these additional angles help show the full impact of this home!

We’re proud to share an update with you. Earlier this month, Cam Krause became Owner and Principal of Willson Design.

He is a familiar face to those who have worked with us before. With nearly two decades at Willson Design, he’s the creative mind behind the homes you see in our feed.

Previously, the firm had been led by Jim Willson since 1998, after taking it over from his father, who founded the company in 1959. Jim says, “I couldn’t be more confident in this transition. Cam knows the business well, understands the standards we’ve always held ourselves to, and cares deeply about the work and the people we partner with.”

While leadership has transitioned, our heart remains the same. We’re still grounded in the values the Willson family started with: quality plans, functional beauty, and a deep respect for the people we design for. That means continuing to create intentional, well-executed homes, listening and understanding at every stage of the process, and working closely with builders and other professionals to support a smooth build.

The response so far has meant a lot to us. We’ve already had some great conversations and are grateful for the confidence that’s been shared in Cam and this next chapter of Willson Design.

Years in the making, we walked through our Cape Cod Luxury this week, just days before handover and as finishing touches were being made.

After countless hours spent obsessing over every detail and with so many talented people involved along the way, it’s hard to beat this stage of a project, especially when it’s been executed so well by .freig of Versa Homes and

This Nantucket-inspired home was designed within tight ALR restrictions, requiring a thoughtful and intentional footprint where every square foot was carefully used to support timeless proportions, natural light, and consistent detailing.
