Guess who found corms?😀🌱

If you love Alocasias, then you love finding corms - the gift🎁that keeps on giving🌿

I found 8-12 corms hiding in Leca in my small Alocasia Regal Shield. Which was actually grown from another corm courtesy of the 👸🌱

I took out 4 corms & soaked them over night. Peeled them gently & placed them 1/2” deep in some Fluval Stratum

I placed them into a propagation box with a heat mat underneath. Locked in that humidity.💦
First growth appeared within 3 weeks, & within 8 weeks I had vibrant healthy plants ready for the world🪴🪴

**I have never seen a corm that did not prop successfully in Fluval Stratum. Even if you have an Alocasia that appears to be dead, before you toss it, dig out the corm & put it in some stratum for a few weeks. You may still have life. 🌿

For This House🏡 - Giveaway!🎁

Every October we bring in about 15-20 Tropical Plants from our backyard. This year, we also closed the shop in June, & brought home almost the entire store inventory.

That said, we need to unload a few plants, we have far too many plants in our house! This is a local giveaway (Ontario). Some of the plants are too large to ship. If you win, you must be able to pick up your plants in Oshawa.

🌿✨ Japanese Beetle Problem?🌟 Here are some tips to try & keep them off your plants!

1. You can wake up at 6am like me & Handpick them off your plants(while they are sleeping) & drown them in some water mixed with Neem Oil & Insecticidal Soap🧼🙌🏽

2. Spraying rarely works with these hard back bad boys🪲💪🏽. But you can try a similar concoction of Neem Oil & Bug B Gon. Try to spray while they are sleeping & before the sun hits. Don’t want to burn your plants.

3. Companion Planting. Plant things like marigolds and garlic! They’re like the bouncers for your garden, keeping those beetles out. 💐🥊

4. Beetle traps. Can also be effective, just don’t hang them in trees. You will invite every beetle in the neighbourhood, & you will end up with a dead tree for your efforts.

5. Nematodes.🪱🪱Lawn Guardian is probably the most effective. Release Nematodes in your grass or garden beds in May & again in August/September. Nematodes will eat grubs in the lawn/soil before they have an opportunity to become fully formed Japanese Beetles or June Bugs. Over a couple of seasons this will reduce the population dramatically. 🎭
