Melillo Architects Incorporated

Melillo Architects Incorporated Melillo Architects is a full service architectural firm providing the highest quality of design and building solutions for thirty three years.

Melillo Architects incorporated is committed to excellence in client service and design. We offer a full range of architectural services including master planning, interior design, building design, project management and administration. our broad experience has ranged from new construction to building extensions and renovations and includes feasibility studies and life safety building assessments.

In particular, our experience has encompassed technically challenging work and projects requiring a high level of detail. We have worked with a variety of institutions, community groups and public organisations, as well as private companies and individuals. Our Portfolio includes schools, libraries, office buildings, commercial, retail, showrooms, industrial and residential design. Building renovations and the upgrade of historic and older building stock has also comprised much of our work. Many of our projects have involved site planning and landscaping, as well as the design of lighting, furniture, and fitments. We believe in a fluent balance between design and the various technical aspects of building. There should be a balance between project and environmental requirements to achieve aesthetically effective design solutions. This is what we believe to be the foundation of sustainability. Since December 1988, we have developed a diverse portfolio by focusing on the design process rather than on specialization. We are proud of our approach to design, our in-house understanding of building codes, and our building science and construction expertise. From this holistic approach to architecture, we are able to achieve sometimes award-winning design solutions that are relevant, sensitive and sustainable. We are members in good standing with the Ontario Association of Architects as well as the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Our professional liability insurance is with ProDemnity and we have no history of claims against us. Our firm prides itself on maintaining an open dialogue with our clients to ensure that our design process is tailored with the goal of delivering solutions that exceed expectations. As a potential future client, you can have confidence in the fact that even the smallest of details will be addressed and all possible design solutions will be considered. We work with client budgets to achieve cost effective and sustainable solutions. We work closely with consultants, contractors and clients in establishing a team approach and an integrated design.

Painted at the height of personal and political upheaval, this intimate portrait captures a rare moment of tenderness in Picasso’s late 1930s work. The subjects—his muse Marie-Thérèse Walter and their daughter Maya—are lovingly depicted in a scene that radiates maternal affection and emotional warmth.

Executed in Picasso’s synthetic style, the painting blends Cubist structure with Surrealist fluidity. Flattened forms, soft lilacs, and pale greens infuse the canvas with serenity—even as the setting remains abstract and dreamlike. Dated precisely 23 January 1938, the painting stands as a quiet, heartfelt counterpoint to the monumental violence of Guernica, which would follow just months later.

A poignant glimpse into a private world, shielded from a storm gathering beyond the frame.
