I thought I would share a recent project consultation.
A past client kindly referred their friends to me, who were looking for advice on selecting new laminate flooring for their Toronto condo. They had experienced a leak from the unit above, which damaged their existing flooring. In addition, the original flooring was quite dark, making the space feel smaller and heavier than they wanted.
After reviewing several options, I recommended a light-to-medium-toned laminate flooring. They ultimately selected Gondola by Beaulieu, which helped lighten and brighten the condo while complementing their existing red accessories and décor.
Because the new flooring is significantly lighter than the original flooring, the space now feels more open, spacious, and inviting.

Taupe is a versatile, sophisticated neutral that blends grey and brown, often with a subtle pink undertone. It’s known as a true “chameleon” colour—shifting beautifully depending on its surroundings and lighting. Because it contains both grey and brown tones, it is often considered a form of greige, making it an incredibly adaptable and timeless choice in interior design.

In warm light, taupe can lean more beige, as seen in this kitchen transformation. You may also notice a soft pink undertone which the Aurora homeowner was happy to embrace. These warm taupe kitchen cabinets not only adds depth but also helps lighten and brighten the space— visible in the before-and-after.

Spring is the perfect time to plan a project to refresh your home—and a great opportunity to design beautiful, functional window treatments. Curtains offer more than just style; they provide practical solutions for everyday living. In this post, I’ll share a few key benefits, including how they can help coordinate and visually connect open-concept spaces.

For example, there were no buttery-coloured elements in the breakfast room, while the kitchen featured an abundance of warm, butter-toned cabinetry. This contrast made the two spaces feel disconnected within the open-concept layout. By introducing cream-coloured linen sheers, we were able to echo the warmth of the kitchen cabinets in the breakfast area. The sheers now help tie the two spaces together, creating a more cohesive and harmonious look. You can see what I mean in the photo below.

Kitchen Renovation Hack: Is Cabinet Refacing the Smart Choice?

Cabinet refacing is one of the most cost-effective ways to transform your kitchen — without the mess and expense of a full cabinet replacement.

Room Redecorating – Transform Your Space by Changing the Layout

Looking to refresh your home without overspending? One of the easiest—and most budget-friendly—ways to redecorate is by rethinking your layout. A simple furniture rearrangement can completely change the way a room feels—making it more functional, inviting, and visually appealing.

For example, I recently worked with downtown Toronto condo owners who felt their space just wasn’t working. One of their black sectionals was tucked away in a reading nook, but it didn’t feel right for the flow of the room. I suggested moving it into the main living area instead. Now, it provides comfortable seating for watching TV and entertaining—instantly improving both function and flow.

To complete the update, we added a rug, side table, coffee table, and sofa table to solve other design challenges—while keeping the sectionals they already owned (which can be pricey to replace).

This is a strategy I also use in home staging—because sometimes, a fresh layout alone is enough to make a space feel brand new!
