After a long stretch of cool, wet weather, it looks like Mother Nature is finally giving us the green light to get planting! With sunshine in the forecast and gardens calling our names, we expect it to be a busy weekend across Cape Breton.

🌿 Good Morning from The Fiddle Shed! 🌿

What a week it has been!

Between the cold temperatures, wind, and rain, Mother Nature has certainly been testing gardeners across Cape Breton. While many of us have been waiting patiently for a break in the weather, we've been busy caring for thousands of plants and keeping them healthy, happy, and ready for their new homes.

The good news? ☀️ Today is the first day in over a week without rain in the forecast!

It might still be a little cooler than we'd like, but it's a perfect day to get outside, enjoy some fresh air, and make a little progress on those garden projects you've been dreaming about.

Whether you're looking for:

🥬 Vegetable transplants
🌳 Trees and shrubs
🌱 Soil, mulch, and manure

—we've got everything you need to get growing.

Mondays are our “grow days” at The Fiddle Shed 🌱

While the shop is closed on Mondays, we’re busy behind the scenes watering, planting, preparing gardens, and getting everything ready for the week ahead.

We’re open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am – 4pm (and sometimes later when the open flag is flying 🚩).

This year’s gardens are starting to take shape and we’re excited about what’s growing:

🥕 A large family food garden with extra produce available at the shop
🌿 A raised herb garden for drying and teas
🍓 A tasting garden where visitors to the Farm & Inn can explore, pick, and sample what’s in season

We’re looking forward to sharing more of our growing journey with you this summer — from greenhouse to garden to table. ☀️

Good evening to our customers so far this year. These are the nights we’ve warned about. Looks like a chance for frost again tonight and tomorrow night.
These would be good nights to cover or bring in your annuals and veggie transplants. Most perennial’s and shrubs should be safe but may suffer some minor leaf damage if the frost is heavy in your area.
Stay warm and keep your plants happy!
