Things are starting to arrive for this home office refresh. The space was still raw with only primer on thr walls, and everyone's favorite honey oak floors (ps.. they are making a comeback so dont rip them out just yet!)

We have removed some furniture that wasn't serving its purpose anymore, rearranged what they wanted to keep and added a few new pieces to give the space some new life and better function for this client.

Pieces are still coming in so the space isn't done yet but I'm loving how bright and calming this space is becoming. I fell in love with this wool rug and went from there for the rest of the design plan.

Stay tuned as this space progresses to see the final and the before for the full transformation.

A quick refresh in my daughter's bedroom to update her nook. It startd as a simple reading nook, but as she has now outgrown that IKEA kids pong chair she decided she wanted a desk instead.

Keeping with her rainbow room, we wanted something colorful, and found the perfect desk and chair to update her space that perfectly matches those rainbow stripes.

Teachers send home all the homework as she is now ready to go!

Only problem is now my youngest thinks she needs a desk in her room now also....

Some people can walk into an empty room and instantly picture the finished space.

Most people… cannot. And that’s completely normal.

That’s exactly why I love creating drawings and 3D visuals using the actual furniture and pieces planned for a space before anything is purchased.

When you can see the sofa in the room.
When you can see how the chairs fit with the rug.
When you can see the scale of the lighting and how the layout flows.
The guesswork disappears.

Instead of hoping everything works once it’s delivered, you get the confidence of knowing the plan makes sense before a single item arrives. It takes the vision that lives in a designer’s head and puts it right in front of you.

For anyone who has ever said:
“I just can’t picture it.”
That’s where drawings and renderings make all the difference. ✨
They help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and a plan that actually works for your home and your family.

Curious… are you someone who can visualize a space easily, or do you prefer to see it first before making decisions? Let me know in the comments 👇

PROJECT UPDATE 🎉

This family wanted a refresh to this dark living space in their home. The goal was light and airy, while still keeping storage for kids toys, which is why we did the wall to wall bench under the TV to give lots of space for their games and toys, while still creating a cozy basement space for family movie night, Saturday night hockey games or lazy Sunday morning cartoons.

This project included a space plan, 3D renderings and a fully sourced moodboard for them including both hard finishes and furniture so they knew exactly what to purchase to make the space function for them.

I love getting the update photos from clients after all the construction dust is gone and things fall into place. While still some small styling to happen - the core of this space is looking beautiful and just as they envisioned.

If you have a space that needs updating but just don't see how it can work, or the thought of what the first step is feels overwhelming. Reach out, let's chat, I have several ways I can assist you in getting the space that your family deserves.

Hello March, Hello Sun! 🌞☘️

Temperatures are finally warming up outside, meaning spring projects are just around the corner. Yes, gardens and yard work initially come to mind, but don't forget about indoor projects as well.

Here are a few things I recommend homeowners start planning for this time of year:
• Furniture layout refresh – Winter tends to collect clutter. Spring is the perfect time to rethink the layout and make sure your space actually works for how your family uses it. Remove pieces that aren't working, move items to different rooms and list the gaps you have and the sizes you need to make shopping easier.
• Window Coverings – Longer sunnier days may mean more rays coming through your windows. Do you need more privacy? Do you need UV Protection to prevent sun damage to your floors or furniture? How about blackout curtains so you can actually sleep in on a Sunday? Look at what you might need to update and start planning now, to have them installed this spring.
• Patio layout – Think back to last summer: what did you love about your outdoor space, and what wasn't working? Start planning now how you will use your space to ensure you find the pieces to use all spring and summer long. Outdoor patios are our summer bonus rooms here in Canada, let's not leave that space wasted.

The key is starting with a plan before jumping into purchases. Paint colours and accent chairs are the fun part, but a thoughtful layout is what makes a home truly work. And having that layout first can help avoid buyer's remorse.

If a space in your home has quietly frustrated you all winter, spring might be the perfect time to tackle it and give it a refresh. And if you want a little help figuring out the layout before you start buying things, that’s exactly what we do at Stacey Marie Design.

Your entryway sets the tone for your entire home, it's the first impression of guests … but more importantly, it sets the tone for your daily routine. If it’s not functional, you’ll feel it every single day.

Here are the key elements every family-friendly entryway should have:
• A place to sit — A bench or chair makes putting shoes on (and taking them off) easier for everyone, especially kids.
• Drop zone surface — A console, shelf, or table for keys, bags, mail, and the everyday essentials that shouldn’t get lost.
• Hooks or vertical storage — Coats, backpacks, and hats need a home. Wall space is your best friend if you don't have a closet handy.
• Closed storage — Baskets, cabinets, or drawers help hide clutter and keep the space looking calm.
• Good lighting — You should be able to find what you need without squinting during early mornings or dark winter evenings.
• Durable flooring and a rug — Entryways take the most wear. Choose materials that can handle traffic, moisture, and mess.
• Something welcoming — A mirror, artwork, plant, or styling detail that makes coming home feel good.

A beautiful entryway is nice. A functional entryway changes your day.

Lately, when I’m searching for some design inspiration, my eyes keep stopping at bathroom floors.
Not the safe, predictable kind… the fun ones. The ones with a little personality underfoot 👀✨

I’ve been especially drawn to floors that break away from the classic 12×24 tile and get a bit more creative. Mixing tile sizes, playing with colour, adding borders, or building subtle patterns that make the floor feel intentional instead of forgotten. It’s such an underrated place to add character and personality without overwhelming the space.

These are a peek at what has been filling my inspiration boards. Proof that a floor can be the moment, not just the background. Small scale tile not only gives opportunity to add personality but also is great to add texture and grip to the floor that can get wet and slippery. Safety first :)

Now I’m curious 👇
Would you consider something like this in your next bathroom or powder room renovation…
or are you still firmly Team 12×24 tile?

✨ New Year, Same You… Just Feeling Better at Home ✨

I’ll be honest. I’m not a big New Year’s resolutions person. I love the idea of a reset… I just don’t think it needs to be dictated by a calendar 📆
That said, if you do like setting goals for the year ahead, I truly believe this should be one of them:
improving how you feel in your home.

And no, that doesn’t mean a full renovation or a massive budget.
Sometimes the biggest shifts come from the smallest changes:
– Rethinking your furniture layout
– A fresh coat of paint
– Better lighting
– Or simply adding something personal that makes the space feel more you

Your home sets the tone for your days. Small adjustments can change how a space functions, how it feels, and how you show up in it.
