These large spruce trees were devastated by LDD moth (Gypsy moth) in 2021. They are leafing out right now but are extremely vulnerable to stress this year and the next few years. Supplemental irrigation and deep root fertilizing in the root zone will be very important to their recovery, especially if we get a hot, dry 2022. Monitor and treat for LDD moth this year to keep vulnerable evergreens protected for repeated defoliation.
