The Team had a hot week. Great job guys!!
Milliken Garden Centre is hard at work bringing their beautiful flower installs to Town!
Change is coming to some of our garden spaces to welcome more sustainable practices. You will notice new perennial plants at Town Hall and the Arnprior Library. These plants have the benefit of being salt tolerate, drought tolerant and require minimal inputs such as fertilizers. In addition, many of these plants are native or near native to Ontario which means they have adapted to our local climate and support our local ecosystem. Our goal is to reduce maintenance while maximizing benefit to biodiversity.
While we may not see the summer-long pop of colour that the annual installation at these locations had, there will still be flowering plants throughout the season and the downtown beds with remain annuals at this time. This both provides seasonal interest for our viewing pleasure as well as a food source for pollinators in our downtown.
These plants may require a season or two to establish before blooming so please be patient as we wait for flowers. Remember that all good things take time!
