REMEMBERING CHUCK 🖤

Council and staff at the Municipality of Brighton were saddened to learn of the passing of our colleague, Chuck Ward.

Chuck began his service to Brighton as a Councillor - first for the former Town of Brighton, and then for the newly created Municipality of Brighton following amalgamation in 2001. Chuck continued to serve the community as a crossing guard beginning in 2017 at various locations in Brighton. Most recently, he stood faithfully, no matter the elements, in Smithfield and at the corner of Main and Prince Edward Streets in Downtown Brighton, ready with a wave, a smile, and sometimes even a dog treat.

Chuck was a true pillar in the Brighton community who touched the lives of many, often with just a moment of kindness in passing. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Our thoughts are with Chuck's family at this time. Municipal staff and Council are working with Chuck's family to ensure a meaningful tribute is created in his memory. To honour his life and service, municipal flags will be lowered for the week.

FALL LEAF AND YARD WASTE COLLECTION FINAL DATES OF 2024 APPROACHING 🍃

🌱 Area 1: Monday, December 2nd
🌱 Area 2: Monday, November 11th & Monday, December 9th
🌱 Area 3: Monday, November 18th
🌱 Area 4: Monday, November 25th

📣 Collection can occur Monday through Friday of that week and does not necessarily occur on the setout day

Bags Must Be:
🌱 Less than 20kgs (44lbs)
🌱 Rolled at the top
🌱 Curbside by 7 a.m. on your collection date

PLAN YOUR PARKING FOR APPLEFEST 🅿️

We're just a week away from Applefest 50!

As you plan your trip, here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to finding a parking spot!

Shuttle busses, sponsored by Brighton Legacy Living, will be running from 9:00am to 4:30pm on Saturday making stops at designated FREE parking areas located at...
📍 Dunnett Orchards, 143 Dundas Street,
📍 Municipal Parking Lot behind Sobeys,
📍 Brighton Health Centre, 170 Main Street,
📍 Brighton Fellowship Christian Reformed Chuch, 204 Main Street,
📍 Brighton Evangel Pentecostal Church, 30 Butler Street and
Prince Edward Square, 46 Prince Edward Street.

Free parking is also available at Holy Angels Catholic Church at 40 Centre Street and downtown on side streets.

❗ When parking, please be respectful of driveways, fire hydrants, and pedestrian walkways taking care not to block them.

The shuttles will also be offering hop-on/hop-off services at all of our events including...
📍 stops on Terry Fox Drive and Dundas Street for The Car Show and
📍 a stop at King Edward Park Arena for helicopter rides, the Children's Village, snowmobile shows, pancake breakfast and more.

🛑 We remind Applefest visitors that the Municipality of Brighton's No Pets at Applefest By-Law (By-Law #036-2024) will be in effect on the Saturday of Applefest from 6:00am to 11:00pm at the Street Fair, Music in the Park, The Children's Village, The Car Show and at Brighton Fire Station #1. There is a $250.00 fine for individuals who host or es**rt an animal to Applefest, provide a false statement or information to enforcement officers and/or hinder, obstruct directly or indirectly enforcement officers.
