In light of recent events we would like to be more transparent about the green bin material that we use to create our compost. Unfortunately, we cannot control what people put in their green bins, but we can help raise awareness by showcasing everything from terrifying to hilarious that we have found while processing raw material. While we can successfully screen out 99.5% of contaminants, 0.5% do still end up in our compost and because of this we cannot say for 100% certainty what you may find. We see two ways to lower the amount of contaminants in our compost. Firstly, we will continue to streamline our processing and strive to remove even more contaminants. Secondly, we would like to decrease the amount of contaminants placed in green bins in the first place. To help us do this we would like to start where along with us you can share weird contaminants you may have found in your compost. This way people can see what ends up in green bins, we can see what makes it through our processing, potential customers can see what they may find in their compost, and we can compile these pictures to present to municipalities to help push for stricter green bin collection.
Lets start off with something we find extremely frequently - kitchen utensils. We screen these out every day.
