Zebiak started raising houses in Ontario before World War II. In 1947, he relocated to Vancouver and started L.W. Zebiak Houseraising in 1951. Since then the company has raised and moved thousands of homes in the Greater Vancouver area. In 1993, Walter decided to retire at the age of 82. Two employees, Bob and Jere Vickars purchased the company. They continue to provide the same conscientious serv
ice and quality workmanship to their clients. Looking to retire themselves, Bob and Jere have thoroughly trained Josh and Matt Vicakrs in this unique trade so this family owned B.C. business successfully continues into the future. Zebiak Houseraising's qualified field personnel have over 100 years combined house raising and moving experience. Zebiak Houseraising is a member in good standing with the Greater Vancouver Home Builders Association and the B.C. Structural Movers Association. In partnership with these expert renovators we can offer the complete service busy clients require. We at Zebiak pledge to offer safe and timely service to our customers. In our sixty years of operation, we have never had any insurance claims against our company for undue damage to a clients' home or buildings. Q: Why Raise/Move an Existing House?
-Raising is generally cheaper than new construction, older houses are made with better wood and materials than new ones.
-Raising allows unsafe and inadequate foundations to be replaced without total demolition
-Raising allows unfinished low ceiling basements to be transformed into bright, desirable, income generating suites.
-Allows Heritage and Character homes to be saved from demolition and upgraded with new and modern foundations, floor-plans, and features with their heritage value and charm intact.
-To encourage restoration over demolition cities in the lower mainland allow exceptions to rules governing building size, height, and density. This can significantly increase the potential value of a property.
-Raise/Moving allows the house to be optimally re-positioned on the property to create space for additional buildings, like lane homes, or to sub-divide the land. Q: What is the cost to raise/move a house?
- Most people are surprised that the cost of raise/moving a house is quite affordable and usually is only 5-10% of the total renovation price.
-Typical houses take one day to raise/move and one day to lower onto new or remediated foundations. We are generally only on the jobsite for 2 days.
