It's the time of the season to talk about drought tolerance 🌞

As we begin to experience summers that exhibit higher temperatures and lower precipitation, the topic of drought tolerance becomes ever-the-more apparent (and important).

Characteristics of drought tolerant plants include:

✔ Withstanding prolonged hot, dry conditions
✔ Having lower water requirements
✔ Capacity to grow in low-nutrient, sandy soils

Quite often, we narrow our focus to largely grasses, succulents and some select shrubs to fit the bill for high temps. This sampling of plants is meant to show that it is very possible to have a burgeoning perennial garden full of colour and interest (and a tolerance for drought, too 😉)
