That is why this month matters so much for Sunbusters.

Our own blinds workshop is now open right here in Calgary, and we are making zebra, roller, sheer, and blackout blinds in-house.

Before the cold really settles in, a quick draft check can save you a lot of discomfort in Alberta.

On a still evening, run a lit candle or incense stick slowly along the window frame, sash, and sill. If the smoke bends or flickers, air is moving through that spot.

Try this in 2 minutes:
- Close all windows and doors
- Turn off fans and vents if you can
- Move the candle or incense slowly around each frame
- Watch for any smoke pull or wobble
- Make a note of windows that fail the test

Myth: if you start, you have to do the whole house.

Reality: you absolutely do not. This is one of the biggest reasons older-home owners in Calgary delay window and door projects for years, because they mentally price the entire house at once and decide it is “too much.” It sounds tidy. It is also wrong.
