Nothing compares to the flavour of the first strawberries picked fresh out of the garden. Bursting with sweetness, Albion is one of the everbearing strawberry varieties recommended by Alberta Agriculture. Gone are the days when strawberry season was only in June and into July… now strawberries can be grown from late May all the way into October!
The best variety for planting in pots and hanging baskets, Albion is a day-neutral or everbearing strawberry which means it has no awareness of day length so it just fruits and fruits until it gets too cold in the fall. It also produces fruit in the first year and is hardy to Zone 2 if covered for the winter.
These exceptional berries have intense red colour inside and out. Their beautiful appearance is matched only by their exceptionally sweet taste. The berries are excellent for fresh eating, pies, preserves and freezing. While there have been other varieties like it, none have ever been so sweet and delicious. Many people who’ve enjoyed this variety say it’s the best one they’ve ever tasted.
