Saturday morning things at Bumbleberry Homestead 🐣
We had another broody hen last month, so I put 6 eggs under her, and 12 in the incubator. Poppy (we named her) had horrible motherly instincts as it turned out, and abandoned her nest regularly. So that amounted to nothing, but yesterday we hatched 7 eggs in the incubator!! My plan is to grow my heritage breed flock, and have a whole passle of colourful egg layers! 🥚
These coffee mugs from .co are a constant reminder to me that even the possibly mundane chores like washing eggs and doing dishes, are such a blessing. It dawned on me the other day that my childhood dream has come true. I always dreamed as a child to someday have a home with children running about, slamming screen doors, front porch with rockers, gardens, and a place to host friends and family. I have all of those things. Right down to the creaky, slamming screen door and black cracker barrel rockers on my front porch. Does it look exactly how it did in my dreams? No. But wow, what a life I have been blessed with. 🙏🏻
