Calibre Environmental Ltd (CEL) was incorporated in the fall of 2003 after Calibre Environmental purchased the assets of a small paint-recycling company. We got our start recycling industrial and commercial paints in small amounts, creating white, beige and grey EcoCoat which was then tested and marketed as a primer for drywall, vertical concrete, block, and stucco. In September 2004, Calibre Envi
ronmental obtained the contract to process City of Calgary post-consumer paint and began searching for a better way to recycle latex paints. In November 2004, we established a relationship with an American organization that had been recycling latex paint since 1992. Calibre Environmental was able to adopt their methods and practices, and in the spring of 2005 we launched our recycled paint to the retail market with fourteen colours of consistently premium quality, 100% recycled latex paint. In 2008, Calibre Environmental became a key part of the new Alberta Paint Stewardship Program which significantly increased the recycling of unused latex paint across the province of Alberta. In April 2012, Calibre Environmental shipped its first truckload of natureSecret brand paint to the United States. natureSecret is now distributed throughout New England, and more regional markets are opening up each year. Calibre Environmental Ltd sells premium recycled paint under two brands: EcoCoat in Canada and natureSecret in the US.
