It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our founder Henry Heuver.

Henry established Foothills Landscaping in 1964, and Henry set out with his desire, wisdom and strong work ethic into building one of the most reputable and successful landscaping companies in Calgary for these past 60 years.

His dedication and the passion he put into his work and to this industry is at times unmatched. His heart and his devotion touched so many lives, bringing happiness, encouragement and teachings to generations of new landscapers.

Henry will always be our inspiration and through his guidance, knowledge and infectious energy, we will affectionately continue his message and his love of Landscaping in the years to come In his honour.

Thank you Henry! For all that you have given and the lasting legacy that you leave for us to follow.

As trees age, they become more susceptible to suckers. These are small offshoots that look like thin branches at the base of the trunk. When taking care of trees, we like to remove all suckers so the tree can breathe and look its best.

To remove suckers, you want to cut as close to the base as possible while avoiding harming the trunk of the tree. To prevent regrowth, remove the nodes that send up more growth. A sharp pair of pruners or billhook saw work well at removing suckers.

Overall, suckers are fairly harmless but can make your tree look more like a shrub!
