This one brought me to tears by the end. Not from being difficult (but it was🤣) Just from the before and after, and you could feel all the previous love coming from this antique. All the history. All the shared moments from the past
This one needed stripper, acetone, tsp, and oxalic acid . Then I went in with a custom paint wash, tinted topcoats sprayed with my and high performance topcoat, and white furniture wax.
📍Tip for white furniture wax - do not use clear wax first. Apply extremely liberal and let sit for 15 minutes before you buff in.

Any questions about the process, ask away 📣

Traditional staining is one of my favorite things to do. It sooths my ocd to follow the Traditional process.
My process to stain 👇
-First I clean with tsp, followed by dawn dish soap. And let fully dry
- Than I fully chemical strip with either or Acetone. But I always pray to Baby Jesus first that Acetone will work🙏
- I never really start with lower than 120 gritt, then go in with 180 . Vacuum , followed by water Popping. Thats where I spray all the veneer with a light misting of water and massage in with my hands. Let that dry over night. Dont rush it.
- than ill hand sand with 180 gritt again. And Vacuum
-your ok to lightly Spritz a blue shop towels and get any remaining dust off. Wood generally not raise again
- than I give it a good wipe with my shop towels soaked in mineral spirits. *** This is where I am looking for imperfections and if I missed and sanding marks. If you notice anything, guess what go back to the first step and repeat this all🤣
-Since I prefer Traditional oil based stains , I use an oil based wood conditioner. I love
Wood conditioner
- depending on depth and darkness of the color im going for will depend on how long I leave the conditioner on for. If I want a lighter shade , I go in with my stain within minutes. If I am going for a deep dark tone I will wait upto 8 hours before I stain
- You can topcoat after an hour

Its a lot of work to do Traditional staining. But I have great clients who understand, and dont mind paying and waiting for the process 🥰
! Never undervalue your time or expertise!

Well its been an absolute amazingly busy month here in my shop. So many wonderful clients. I had to choose sanity or social media. For my apprentices wellbeing I had chosen sanity 😆 God bless you Vanessa 🙏 ❤️
Here is a set I had come in that the pieces were separated for 2 different clients, highlighting the power of color selection and individuality.
The long dresser was painted in Benjamin Moore Command in the color Hale Navy, stained in the color Kona to bring out the dark walnuts beautiful deep brown.
The tallboy was also painted in Benjamin Moore's Command in the color Tricorn Black, lighted with ocylic acid, and paint washed in a custom color.
All pieces are always topcoat in General Finishes High Performance Satin. I will never use anything else. This one is hands down the best topcoat you can get.

Say Goodbye to Dated Oak 👋✨
From heavy, dated 1980s oak to a bright, sophisticated Vintage Modern masterpiece. 🪵➡️🥂
When this set came into the studio, it was weighed down by heavy, ornate dated carvings and a dark, muddy finish. The goal? Strip away the decades, lean into clean lines, and create a high-end look that feels both fresh and timeless.
The Recipe for a Modern Heirloom:
The Custom Hue: I wanted something softer and more luxurious than a stark white, so I experimented with a brand-new shade for the studio—Benjamin Moore’s Palace White, flawlessly color-matched into Sherwin-Williams Gallery Series for that flawless, factory-grade finish. It is the perfect creamy, warm cream with zero harsh yellow undertones.
The Fluting Detail: Look closely at those top drawers and cabinet panels! We completely stripped away the old, heavy carvings and replaced them with custom, crisp fluted detailing to bring this set straight into the modern era.
The Wood Grain: You know I can’t entirely hide beautiful wood. The tops and custom turned feet were stripped raw and refinished in a classic, glowing Golden Oak stain to perfectly contrast the warm cream paint.
The Jewelry: Swapped out the dated hardware for sleek, modern champagne gold pulls to tie the whole look together.

Be honest—would you have kept the original carvings, or do you love the new fluted look? Drop a 👇 or a 🪵 below

April was the time of Blues and dark tones. May has been the exact opposite!
This was for an amazing client who found me through my page. She entrusted me with her loved pieces. And let me have my way with them 🫶 And it gave me an excuse to buy more tools to get this thick base cut off. P.s. highly recommend the Milwaukee Tool M12 5 3/8 Circular saw. Lighter than a full size saw. More accurate cuts than a jigsaw
The color choices for this one were
Paint - Revier Pewter color matched in Sherwin-Williams Gallery series
Paint washed in a 5% medium brown and 95% Revier Pewter.
Hardware is Champagne bronze from Amazon.

A true custom transformation! 🛠️
Finding the perfect piece of furniture is one thing; making it look like it was always meant for your space is another. My clients requested a matching dresser for their existing nightstands, so we went on a hunt.
We rescued this piece from a poor previous paint job and structural damage. After a full deconstruction and some heavy-duty repairs, it has a second life. We paired the deep tones of Hale Navy with a rich American Walnut stain on the original veneer top.
Transformation Highlights:
✅ Structural repairs to legs and drawers
✅ Professional-grade factory finish
✅ Custom-sourced hardware
Customizing your home doesn't always mean buying new—sometimes it means uncovering the beauty in what’s already there.

Who knew she was going to be that pretty? ✨

Restoring this antique radio was a lesson in patience and precision. Before any of the "pretty" work could begin, safety was the first priority—I had to discharge the capacitors to ensure those internal components were safe to work around.

Once the electronics were safe, the transformation began:

The Prep: A full strip using acetone followed by an initial hand sand at 120 grit.

The Repair: Used an iron and steam to lift years of dents and scratches, then an oxalic acid treatment to pull out those stubborn black water marks from the delicate veneer.

** The Finish:** Refined the surface with 150 and 180 grit before a mineral spirit deep clean.

The Glow: Applied Old Masters Oil-Based Wood Conditioner followed by their Gel Stain in American Walnut to achieve that rich, deep tone.

The Protection: Sealed for the next century with General Finishes High Performance Topcoat.

From a forgotten relic to a "Modern Heirloom." 📻

This Piano Refinishing was done on site, for a family I have done a lot of pieces for. I started doing on-site Refinishing last year for clients , as I recieved so many requests for larger pieces that just couldn't be transported. I set up a mobile spray booth using ZipWall poles and barriers , vent out fumes with a heavy duty exhaust fan, and my Fuji Spray hvlp sprayers are easy to transport. I do clean my guns back at my shop using methol hydrate . Paint was Sherwin-Williams ultra white in Gallery series, and I used Bin Shellac for my primer. 2 coats and left overnight to block the tannins.

There is something about the way Solitude by catches the light. Using the Semi-Pro 2 allows me to get that ultra-smooth, durable finish that makes these pieces feel brand new but look like they’ve always belonged.
From furniture to cabinetry, this color is a total game-changer for a "Vintage Modern" aesthetic.
