it always fascinates me to see side by side versions of insecticidal sprays for pests. canada (safers end all) vs america (captain jacks dead bug brew) … so what’s the difference?

let’s put our lab coats on 👩‍🔬

safers end all contains - potassium salts of fatty acids (1%) + pyrethrins (0.01%) .. that’s super low concentration but enough to kill on contact. it works by breaking down the insect outer layers and lightly attacking the nervous systems. it’s giving “please gently discourage pests”

captain jacks dead bug brew - contains spinosad 0.001% which is extremly potent at small concentrations. spinosad comes from a naturally occurring soil bacterium called saccharopolyspora spinosa. so it’s not synthetic in the traditional sense, but it’s still a powerful insecticide, not just a gentle soap/oil. this overstimulates the bugs nervous system where they no longer can eat and become paralyzed. it’s giving “you will be tortured and then 🪦)

anyway, i think it’s super neat to see how countries treat pests and what their targets are for the pest prevention.🦟
