🌳 Looking for a great tree for a smaller Calgary yard?

Our pick: Swedish Aspen.

Tall, narrow, fast-growing, and perfect for creating privacy without taking up your whole yard.

These are one of our most popular trees for a reason.

Specimen vs Park Grade Spruce 🌲

Here’s the truth—this isn’t about survivability.
Both trees will grow just fine in Alberta.

The difference comes down to 3 things:

👉 Aesthetic
Specimen trees are full, balanced, and clean all the way around.
Park grade… a little rougher, thinner in spots, not as uniform.

👉 Application
Specimen = front yard, feature tree, the one you show off.
Park grade = shelterbelts, acreage, filling space where perfection doesn’t matter.

👉 Price
You pay for that symmetry and density.
Specimen trees cost more—because they look like it.

Same species. Same toughness.
Just depends if you want a showpiece… or a workhorse.

Now booking tree consults 🌳

Thinking about planting trees but not sure where to start? That’s where we come in.

✔️We’ll come out, walk your property, and help you plan:

– The right trees for Alberta (not the ones that die in 2 winters)
– Proper placement for wind protection and shelterbelts
– Privacy from neighbors without turning your yard into a jungle
– Spacing that actually works long-term
No guesswork. No planting it twice. Do it right the first time.

🎉Best part — it’s FREE for larger projects.

If you’re serious about upgrading your property, now’s the time.

🌲 Absolutely — spring and fall are the best times to plant! When trees start shutting down for winter and heading into dormancy, they don’t go into transplant shock like they might during the heat of mid-season. Cooler temps, less stress, stronger roots — it’s nature’s perfect timing. 🍂💪

🌳 Best Trees for Alberta Landowners 🌳

Looking to add shade, shelter, or just some good old-fashioned beauty to your yard or acreage? Alberta needs trees that can handle prairie winds, chinooks, and long winters. Here are some tough, tried-and-true picks:

Poplar – Fast-growing, perfect for shelterbelts.

Spruce – Evergreen protection and year-round cover.

Swedish Aspen – Tall, narrow, and classy — great for smaller spaces or windbreaks.

Willow – Loves moisture, grows quick, and brings that rustic prairie charm.

Caragana – Drought-proof, loyal, and old-school ranch tough.

Crabapple – Beautiful spring blossoms, hardy fruit, and great for wildlife.

Whether you’re blocking the wind, shading the pasture, or sprucing up the driveway, these trees are Alberta-proven.

💧 Just because it’s raining doesn’t mean your new tree’s getting enough to drink! 🌳 Freshly planted trees have small root zones and need extra water for their first couple years — even during a wet week.

Rule of thumb: Check the soil 2–3 inches down. If it’s dry, give it a slow soak. If it’s damp, let Mother Nature do her thing.

Healthy roots = a healthy tree for decades to come. 🌦️
