This Modern Tudor concept was designed to feel quietly commanding — drawing from old-world European architecture while stripping away the excess for something more restrained, sculptural, and refined. Congratulations to our longtime build partner on being named Builder of the Year (Single Family Small Volume) and winning Best New Home for their custom-built Marda Loop duplex, designed by McDowell & Associates. Showcasing bold contemporary architecture, this home features striking red brick masonry, dramatic black accents, expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, and clean geometric lines that create a timeless yet modern street presence. An incredible achievement in one of Calgary’s most respected industry award programs.

The annual awards celebrate exceptional talent, innovation, and expertise in the residential home building industry across Calgary and the region. Selected from more than 800 entries, narrowed to 227 finalists, and judged by a panel of over 100 industry professionals, this recognition speaks volumes.

An evolving vision ⏪ A modern home, thoughtfully composed for the season of life it serves.

Designed for an active empty-nest couple, this one-and-a-half-storey residence in Briar Hill balances modest scale with quiet architectural confidence. Contemporary forms and Scandinavian restraint guide the exterior—clean lines, honest materials, and generous glazing—creating a home that feels both current and enduring.

Surrounded by larger neighbouring houses, privacy became a defining consideration. West-facing outdoor living spaces are carefully sheltered from view, allowing light, openness, and long afternoon sun to be enjoyed without compromise. Inside, the plan is equally considered, with foresight for aging in place and the flexibility to accommodate a future elevator should it ever be required.

A calm, modern home shaped by context, longevity, and the simple idea that good design should continue to support life as it evolves.
