Mac's father had a passion for birding that he passed onto his son. An opportunity rose to purchase a backyard birding store, and with a gift from his Father, Mac and Linda purchased what is now The Wild Bird Store. They ran the store for 17 years, building it on customer service, education, quality products, and supporting local artisans. In 2013 Mac and Linda's daughter, Kris, and business partn

The mystery bird is the ๐Š๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ž๐ž๐ซ!

These energetic shorebirds are often seen running across gravel lots, fields, shorelines, and open areas throughout Alberta during the warmer months. ๐ŸŒฑ

Killdeer are well known for their loud calls and dramatic behaviour when protecting nests. If a predator gets too close, they may pretend to have an injured wing to draw attention away from their eggs or chicks. ๐Ÿ‘€

Unlike many birds, Killdeer usually nest directly on open ground, relying on camouflage to help keep their nests hidden.
